From the time of the early Church, the practice of seven fixed prayer times have been taught; in Apostolic Tradition, Hippolytus instructed Christians to pray seven times a day "on rising, at the lighting of the evening lamp, at bedtime, at midnight" and "the third, sixth and ninth hours of the day, being hours ...
How long we pray does not matter as much as how often we pray and the spirit we bring into our prayer. Some, in trying to be pedantic say that we should pray for one hour. The reason they give is because Jesus said to His disciples, “Will you not watch with me for one hour?” (Mk. 14:37).
The bible tells us that David had a vow of praise unto the Lord. Seven times a day he would praise the Lord, and three times a day he would pray.
Pastors, as well as all believers, should strive to “pray without ceasing,” however, a good discipline would be to pray at least one hour per day. It is important to mention though that there should be no distinction between a pastor's spiritual life and the life of an ordinary believer.

Daily prayers. The five daily prayers are considered obligatory (fard) by many and they are performed at times determined essentially by the position of the Sun in the sky. Hence, salat times vary at different locations on the Earth. Wudu is needed for all of the prayers.
Jubilees 1 Deuteronomy 9 (19) Then Moses fell prostrate and prayed and said: “Lord my God, do not allow your people and your inheritance to go along in the error of their minds . . . (26) I prayed to the Lord and said: “Lord YHWH do not annihilate your people and your inheritance . . .
Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help.
Personal faith
Some scholars believe that Daniel had a prayer chamber built on top of his house, with the windows permanently open toward Jerusalem. It was an act of faith on the part of an exiled Jew to pray three times a day toward the land from which he had been taken captive.
The typical schedule for the Divine Hours follows a three-hour pattern, with prayers at 6:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., noon, 3:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. In addition, there are evening prayers and morning prayers outside of these times.
Recorded prayers
Three prayers on the cross: "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34) "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matt 27:46, Mark 15:34) "Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit" (Luke 23:46)
Every Muslim is obligated to pray five times a day - Fajr, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. The prayer called Salah is prayed in the congregation every day at dawn, post noon, during the evening, at the evening, and at night.
Jewish law requires Jews to pray thrice a day; the morning prayer is known as Shacharit, the afternoon prayer is known as Mincha, and the evening prayer is known as Maariv.

Prayer keeps us thankful
Prayer is a way we can pause and praise God for every blessing He showers upon us. As we look back, we bless Him for His faithfulness. In our present, we praise Him for His salvation and loving-kindness.
Part 4: Farewell prayer
John 17:1–26 is generally known as the Farewell Prayer or the High Priestly Prayer. It is by far the longest prayer of Jesus in any of the gospels.
The first notable prayer whose text is recorded in the Torah and Hebrew Bible occurs when Abraham pleads with God not to destroy the people of Sodom, where his nephew Lot lives. He bargains with God not to destroy the city if there are fifty good men within, and eventually lowers the total to ten.
Prayer of Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:10): Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
Is it possible that God would get angry with us because we pray too much about a particular problem? I worry about bothering Him too much with my problems. ANSWER: Absolutely not! The Bible tells us to persist in prayer and to pray about everything.
Prayer gives you a connection to something greater than yourself, which does wonders for your emotional well-being. It provides a greater sense of purpose, betters your mood, and helps you cope with and overcome the difficulties life brings your way.
