Rate: $6.20 per fortnight for an eligible single person, and $3.10 per fortnight for each eligible member of a couple (i.e. $6.20 in total if both members of a couple are eligible).
SpB is a discretionary income support payment that provides financial assistance to people who, due to reasons beyond their control, are in financial hardship and unable to earn a sufficient livelihood for themselves and their dependants.
Special Benefit provides financial assistance to people in severe financial need due to circumstances outside their control.
What is Special Benefit? Special Benefit (SpB) is a discretionary income support payment, paid by Centrelink to people who are in financial hardship and unable to earn a sufficient livelihood, and who are not eligible to receive any other social security pension or allowance.
For a single unemployed person, with no children, aged 22 or over, the JobSeeker Payment is just $668.40 a fortnight or $334.20 a week (as at September 2022).

On 1 December 2022, a one-off $4,000 income credit was added to the Work Bonus income bank of those at least pension age and in receipt of an Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment or certain Veterans entitlement. Prior to 1 December 2022, the Work Bonus income bank was capped at $7,800.

How much you get depends on your income and assets tests, and whether you're single or in a couple. The maximum Age Pension for: singles is $971.50 a fortnight or $25,259 a year. couples is $1,464.60 a fortnight or $38,079.60 a year.
The bonus will be paid to workers providing care and support in Government subsidised home care and to residential aged care workers. The payments will be for clinical care workers and expanded to all those providing direct care, food or cleaning services in Government subsidised residential care.
The Cost of Living Payment is a $250 one-off payment to help with the cost of living. The Cost of Living Payment is not taxable, and you don't need to report it as income.
