You'll feel the pull on your skin. Release your squeeze and slide the cup back and forth or in a circular motion. Continue this motion for 10 to 15 minutes per area. Repeat two to three times per week as long as you continue treatment.
Although you can expect to see smoother skin after around three weeks of using a vacuum cup for cellulite, don't expect an overnight wonder.
Cupping is a lifting technique and can be done both statically and dynamically(gliding). Suction is applied on the skin, the reverse pressure helps the cellulite to break up. Blood circulation is stimulated, and the fat and toxins that are released are moved to the lymph drainage network.
The typical duration of the cupping treatment varies from 15 to 25 minutes. Treatments can be done on a daily basis for acute problems and every other day for more chronic conditions. FIGURE 5.86. Hot cupping therapy using traditional glass cups.
In general, one cupping session per week is a solid pace. Cups should not be placed over areas that remain bruised, notes Annis, and any marks left from a previous cupping session should be completely faded before cups are reapplied to that area.
Cupping can cause side effects such as persistent skin discoloration, scars, burns, and infections, and may worsen eczema or psoriasis. Rare cases of severe side effects have been reported, such as bleeding inside the skull (after cupping on the scalp) and anemia from blood loss (after repeated wet cupping).
Patients can come in as often as two to three times a week for cupping, but it's usually used in conjunction with acupuncture. “Cupping is a great adjunct because you can feel better faster, whereas with just acupuncture, you'll feel better, but it might be a couple days later,” she says.
The bruises from cupping can last for a few days up to 2 weeks. According to TCM practitioner Casco, it is expected that over several weeks of repeated cupping treatments the bruising will decrease as the stagnation resolves.
Both Kourtney and Khloé reportedly swear by the FasciaBlaster tool, and it's even made an appearance on their family's reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians in the past. “It gets rid of cellulite. You rub it on your body…but you've got to be naked,” Khloé said at the time.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy, cupping works by increasing micro-circulation in the affected areas, which is key to restoring skin tone. Cupping assists to bring fresh red blood to the skin's surface, which may help to reshape and firm it in the process.
The suction effect also breaks up cellulite by releasing pockets of trapped fluid around fat cells and changes the texture of your skin with repeated use. Even better, it can be used in very specific areas on the body like your thighs.
It's a bit painful but I do believe I got used to the discomfort. 100% recommend. I use it with cellulite oil I purchased through Amazon as well.
Walking, stretching, and yoga are great options for post-cupping activity. Your skin will be a bit sensitive to temperature, so keep your body warm, and avoid showering or swimming for at least several hours.
The pores underneath the cups will be open, a result of the negative pressure created by the cups themselves, making your skin in those areas especially vulnerable to changes in temperature and/or infection. Most cupping therapists recommend waiting at least three hours before taking a bath or shower after cupping.
It's best to check with your doctor to confirm that you can try cupping. If you're interested, be sure to look for a licensed practitioner in your area who has extensive experience performing this type of therapy. After your cupping session, you should be loosened enough to workout.
The flipside of this is dark purple cupping marks – a sign of stagnation, heat, toxin and blood build up in the area being treated. These types of marks may appear on athletes who are undergoing intensive training or on people who have a traumatic injury.
The red marks are a result of the blood being pulled into that area. The darker the mark, the more stagnant fluids (toxins, blood and lymph) were dredged up during treatment. The marks last anywhere from a few hours to several days. The more often you receive cupping for the same issue, the lighter the marks will be.
The marks left behind also indicate the condition of the treatment area. If there are no marks or they are light pink, it could mean a lack of blood flow to the area. Darker areas may represent an accumulation of toxins that the cups are helping flush out of your system.
Cupping opens up the connective tissues, allowing fresh blood to move around the body. These cells, tissues, and organs can then grow and repair themselves, in turn further improving the body's metabolism and promoting healthy weight loss.
Cupping encourages tissues to release toxins
Cupping gives your body a boost in releasing those toxins. Focused blood flow helps your body by flushing built-up toxins through the lymphatic system. (Your lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating your body's toxins and waste.)
