Our formulation provides an effective all-day hold for well-fitting dentures (up to 12 hours) — depending upon the individual, the fit of the denture, and the amount of saliva in the mouth and the foods and beverages that are consumed.
The only long-term effect of regular overnight use on denture material is a clean denture. It is perfectly safe to soak your denture in Polident for the duration of the night, and there are no negative effects. I dont recommend long term use of Polident because it can discolor the acrylic.

Remove and gently clean your dentures daily. Soak and brush them with a soft-bristled brush and nonabrasive denture cleanser to remove food, plaque and other deposits. If you use denture adhesive, clean the grooves that fit against your gums to remove any remaining adhesive.

Generally you should wear your dentures for at least 8 hours a day. This will give your gums and jawbone time to get used to the dentures and prevent sore spots from developing. It is best to take them out at night so that your gums can rest. You should also remove them for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing.
Clean dentures daily: Brush your dentures each day the same way that you would brush your teeth, with one key difference: Skip the toothpaste. Many commercial types of toothpaste can damage dentures.
Regardless of the type of dentures you're using, wearing them in your sleep is a bad idea, and will cause you a number of health issues down the line. To keep your mouth bacteria-free, your gums healthy, and your bones unaltered and strong, make sure to remove your dentures every night before going to sleep.
Storing dentures in water when you are not using them helps to keep your dentures free of bacteria as well as making sure they keep their shape. When dentures are not stored in water, they can become dry and brittle. This can cause them to crack or break.
Polident's unique Microclean formula is proven to kill most of the odours causing bacteria. Cleaning your dentures with Polident, as part of a daily oral health routine, helps contribute to good oral health. Use Polident Overnight every night for a deep clean of your dentures.
Use a non-abrasive denture cleaner, not toothpaste. Be careful not to scrub too hard as this may cause grooves in the surface. Make sure you brush all the surfaces of the dentures, including the surface that fits against your gums. This is especially important if you use any kind of denture fixative.
Many mouthwashes contain alcohol (specifically ethanol) to kill bacteria. Soaking or cleaning your denture in mouthwash containing alcohol may make it bacteria-free, but it will also damage the acrylic base of your denture.
Most dentures, however, need to be soaked every night. Soaking helps dentures retain their shape. If they become too dry, dentures may not fit properly. Soaking in plain water may be acceptable for some dentures, and others may need to soak in a special solution designed for the purpose.
1. Do not Expose Your Dentures to Hot Water. Do not place dentures in water any warmer than room temperature. Exposure to water at a particularly high temperature will cause your dentures to warp, become misshapen and possibly even spur the need for replacement.

We recommend storing dentures in a cup of plain tap water overnight. You might clean the dentures with nonabrasive brush and denture cleanser before soaking them in water. Fill your cup with water, and leave your dentures in overnight.

The American Dental Association recommends you replace your dentures every 5-7 years for proper fit and appearance. Denture teeth can wear down and stain faster than natural teeth, and tissues in your mouth may change over time. This can result in an improper fit.
Like natural teeth, dentures should be cleaned daily to remove food particles and bacteria, and to help prevent dentures from becoming permanently stained. In the case of implant-supported dentures, removing the denture allows for access to the implant abutments for cleaning.
