Exfoliate and Moisturize at the Right Time.
Two to three days after waxing is the perfect time to exfoliate. Your pores will have closed and the skin will have recovered. Moisturize from the day or second day after your waxing appointment so as to avoid clogging your pores or exposing skin to chemicals and fragrances.
Regular use of a moisturizer helps draw in and lock moisture to keep the skin supple and ease the growth of the hair out of the follicle. One of the best secrets to beautiful and healthy glowing skin after a wax is to moisturize your skin after each shower.
DO moisturize after waxing. Using gentle oil-based products, such as baby oil, can help to remove any wax residue while keeping the skin supple. If you prefer using a lotion-based after-wax care, try our 'Rub Me Down' lavender and chamomile moisturizer.
Cleansing the skin: Using a gentle soap and warm water to cleanse the skin can help minimize irritants. Gently pat the skin dry to avoid further irritation. Using cold compresses: Applying a cold compress to the area can help soothe irritation and reduce post-waxing bumps.
It has been my experience that clients with coarser, thicker hair seem to require more recovery time after a Brazilian wax. To speed up recovery, I always recommend that clients be very gentle on the area for at least 2 days post appointment. This means no tanning, exfoliants, heat, friction or lotions.
Brazilian waxes last about three to six weeks. The best thing you can do for your skin is to wax regularly. The more you do it, the longer the results last. If you wait longer or only get waxed a couple times a year, it will be much more painful.
As well as keeping the area clean there is no need to apply anything to the skin after your brazilian wax for at least 24 hours. Your wax technician should apply some sort of antibacterial soothing cream, gel or lotion immediately after your wax and that should be enough for 24 hours.
Eucerin Dry Skin lotion, Aquaphor, and baby oil with aloe are moisturizers I recommend. These are typically occlusives and are best for the genitals since they are fragrance free.
Using abrasive products on your skin in the 24-48 hours after a wax service can cause irritation. The process of waxing actually exfoliates your skin, so you should be good for a few days! Try not to use face and body cosmetics like self-tanners and tinted moisturizers for 24 hours following your wax service.
This is typically because the client didn't wait long enough for ALL of the hair to grow out. You will, however, notice that after a few Brazilian Waxes your hair will start to grow in much slower and finer. Shaved hair is much thicker because it gets cut off at its thickest point.
NO hot shower or bath for at least 12 hours.
Directly after waxing your hair follicle is left open. This makes it susceptible hot water entering the open hair follicle during a shower or bath. This will irritate the area and create discomfort. Once your follicles close you can return to your normal bathing routine.
This is a direct shortcut to ingrown hairs. Therefore, to avoid a painful experience, we advise that you wait the recommended 24-48 hours before taking a hot shower or bath. Additionally, avoid swimming pools, jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms. The heat could exacerbate any redness or inflammation.
Because your hair doesn't go through the stages of the growth cycle all at the exact same time, the hair will grow back at different rates. After a wax, the hairs that were in the resting phase will begin growing back, and that's why you'll see hair regrowth in a matter of weeks but not as thick as before.
Hairs can stop showing up after 8 months of treatment in areas where it grows naturally finer, as well as with people with fine hair. It's just as common, however, for people to go through years of wax sessions before the hair stops growing for good.
Lastly, your hair may be growing back quickly after a waxing treatment due to a diagnosed or undiagnosed medical issues. Hormone fluctuations caused by conditions like Polycystic ovary syndrome and some medications can all be potential factors as to why your hair is growing back at a faster rate.
For at least 24 hours, you'll want to avoid saunas, tanning beds, and even the gym. Wait for Sex: Give yourself about 2 days, or 24-48 hours, to recover from the wax before engaging in any sexual activity. Keep it Loose: Avoid tight and constricting clothing for a few days after your wax.
"For a bikini wax, those who frequent the beach benefit from waxing their bikini line every two weeks. But for a full bikini or Brazilian bikini service, you're recommended to come in every three to four weeks. This allows the proper amount of time for regrowth," Coba says.
Yes, it is absolutely normal to get pimples after waxing. Even more so, you are not alone! As professional estheticians, our job is to make our client's skin look flawless by removing any hair they want removed on the face and body.
Ingrown hairs appear when a strand of hair curls into the skin and grows in the wrong direction after waxing. Ingrown hairs can occur as a result of the hair is not completely being removed after you wax. The remaining hair reverts under the skin and starts to grow beneath the surface.
Waxing will cause the pores to open, therefore leaving the skin slightly vulnerable for 24-48 hours. The area should be kept clean and nourished with special post-wax lotions to keep the skin smooth and healthy.
Cold shower is the best after waxing! Daily exfoliation is recommended to prevent ingrowns. You can use gloves or facial scrubs to exfoliate the skin 48 hours after waxing. Avoid tight clothing after waxing, especially in the waxed areas.
