It's pretty tense and chilling but isn't really in your face like a lot of other horror movies. It does have lots of blood though. That being said, it has a lot less cuss words than many other horror movies. All of the violence in this movie is pretty much as you would expect for a movie like this.

Gore/Blood/Disembowelment is an R rating, not a PG-13 rating. Next to sexual content, graphic violence is the easiest way to get an R rating. Even movies with bloodless violence (Lord of the Rings, Marvel Movies, etc) are PG-13.
