Is 80% an "A" in Australian High Schools? In high schools throughout Australia, a grade of "B" (Good) is awarded for attaining a minimum score of 80%. To receive an "A" grade (Excellent), students must score 85% or higher in any given subject, course, or assignment.
The 'A+' grade stands for outstanding achievement. The minimum percentage for the award of an 'A+' grade is 80% at least.
A - is the highest grade you can receive on an assignment, and it's between 90% and 100% B - is still a pretty good grade! This is an above-average score, between 80% and 89% C - this is a grade that rests right in the middle.
An A is 90% to 100%; A B is 80% to 89%;
B- GPA. A B- letter grade is equivalent to a 2.7 GPA, or Grade Point Average, on a 4.0 GPA scale, and a percentage grade of 80–82.
2.6 GPA is equivalent to 81% or a B- letter grade.

For conversion from letter grades to numerical grades, I use the middle of the numerical range above. Thus, an A is a 95, halfway between 90 and 100. An A- is a 91.25, halfway between 90 and 92.5. Etc. Grades between these are averages.
In NSW, you have to study at least eight ATAR “units”, of which six have to be what are called Category A, plus two units of English. Category A units are defined as having “academic rigour” and a “depth of knowledge” required for tertiary studies.
