In The Phantom Menace Obi-Wan says, "The reading's off the chart. Over 20,000. Even Master Yoda doesn't have a
As stated in the other answers, Anakin had the potential to become far greater than Yoda. Anakin's midichlorian count was greater than any other force user ever.
Yoda's trainee and protege, Luke Skywalker is often thought to be one of the most powerful and influential Jedi to ever live, thanks to his role in the destruction of the Empire.
Had Yoda chose to fight Anakin in the same capacity as Obi Wan Kenobi in an all out battle on Mustafar, Yoda would have killed Anakin. Yoda, as ancient as he was in Revenge of the Sith was far more powerful than Anakin Skywalker. As far as Obi Wan Kenobi fighting Darth Sidious, it would have been a similar outcome.
There are certainly scenarios where Darth Vader would have the upper hand in a duel with Yoda, but in most cases, Yoda would be the more likely victor. Vader wields absurd levels of Force power during his dark side prime that would certainly rival Yoda's own abilities, but likely not exceed them.
1/15 Luke Skywalker
Having faced his father once before, Luke was familiar with his tactics and used the force to gain an upper-hand. In Star Wars Canon, only Luke Skywalker can be acknowledged as the one who truly defeated Darth Vader.
Star Wars has revealed Obi-Wan Kenobi shared Anakin Skywalker's greatest weakness: attachment. Every Jedi must strive for balance, and a key part of this lies in their rejection of attachment. As Star Wars author Charles Soule explained so memorably, there is a difference between love and attachment.
The Duel on Mustafar was a lightsaber duel where Anakin Skywalker, now the recently apprenticed Sith Lord, Darth Vader, fought his former Jedi Master and best friend, Obi-Wan Kenobi, on the planet Mustafar in the Outer Rim.
Fighting Emperor Palpatine
Though Yoda was able to keep his adversary on his toes, he was unable to end the conflict, and their duel ended with no clear victor.
When C-3PO was captured by Ewoks along with Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker and R2-D2, he expressed that they considered him to be "some sort of god."
There just isn't any way that in an even fight Obi-Wan beats Vader. Although Vader is supposed to be one of the strongest force users of all time, we actually haven't had a chance to see him using his full strength very often.
However, some are even more powerful. Luke Skywalker is the most famous Jedi of all time in both movies and the world of Star Wars. Within the two major sources of Star Wars entertainment, the Star Wars Legends and the Star Wars canon, Luke is widely considered the most powerful.
Considered one of the most powerful Jedi to have ever lived, Yoda earned a reputation among his peers for having a deep knowledge of the Force and being highly skilled with a lightsaber.
Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, possessed the highest known count in galactic history—over twenty-thousand midi-chlorians—surpassing the potential of Grand Master Yoda and all Jedi.
9/10 When Anakin Solo Died
He was eventually overwhelmed by Yuuzhan Vong forces, fighting many of them before dying in one last display of pure Force power. This was an incredibly tragic death that would have farther reaching negative implications for the Solo family as time went on.
Since he was that little boy, Anakin has feared the “death” dragon. The dragon inside of him that reminds him that stars burn out, that people will die, that all things die. This is the kind of fear that lives inside Anakin Skywalker: the dragon of that dead star.
His main rival was Sebulba. Thank you for the giveaway! SEBULBA was Anakin Skywalker's main rival during the Pod Race.
The ever stronger fear
In the Phantom Menace, Master Yoda senses much fear in Anakin, however, this fear is not the understandable anxiety - Anakin is afraid to lose his mother, Shmi, whom he was forced to leave behind in slavery.
His armor could be hacked and controlled by a device. In a turn of events, Darth Vader's right limb holding his dangerous scarlet lightsaber was moving of its own accord toward his neck. This was a dangerous weakness indeed.
When he was Anakin, he feared losing the people closest to him, whether it was by distance or death. He did end up losing pretty much everyone close to him, namely Qui-Gon, his mother Shmi, then lastly Padme. It was his fear of never ending loss that drove him to become Vader.
This information comes to light form the comic series Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith by Charles Soule and Giuseppe Camuncoli, in particular issue #7. Palpatine admits to Darth Vader that the Jedi he actually feared most was none other than Jocasta Nu.
Vader held respect for Tarkin which is clearly shown and the only case in which Tarkin outranked Vader would be the case in which Vader was in the Death Star or within Tarkin's Oversector which he likely was as Tarkin was Grand Moff of the Outer Rim Oversector, the largest one.
