The B2 is considered an upper-intermediate level, requiring a solid foundation in French grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
B2 French Level – Advanced Level
B2 French level is the fourth level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Level B2 corresponds to independent users of the language, i.e. those who have the necessary fluency to communicate without effort with native speakers.
B2, your French CEFR level is “fluent”
You are at ease to communicate in a spontaneous way. You can work in French and there will be not hiccups in your communication with French people. You can express yourself in a clear and detailed way on a wide range of topics.
B2 level: 500 to 600 hours of learning experience. Here you can get a job that requires speaking French fluidly. C1 level: 700 to 800 hours of learning. At this level, you might be able to communicate in most situations, being fluent in French.
However, a B2 user is able to understand and be understood in most situations. To put this into perspective, users holding a B2 level are eligible for employment positions requiring higher levels of education (e.g. a lawyer). So, suffice to say this is a very good level.
Level B2 corresponds to a more advanced, more independent level than previous levels. A B2 user can communicate easily and spontaneously in a clear and detailed manner. This is not yet an experienced speaker, but a B2 user is able to understand and be understood in most situations.
Level B1 indicates a more intermediate speaker who can hold basic conversations and understand simple texts. Level B2 is considered advanced, and speakers at this level can participate in complex conversations and understand long and difficult texts.
If you study consistently 1 hour per day and practice your French on the side, with the right resources, you'll be able to speak French at a B2 level in one year and a half.
While elementary language learners can progress with Duolingo French, the limited framework is ultimately less effective than other learning methods if you want to reach B2 fluency.
Your certificate can be awarded at different levels, depending on your achievement. Exceptional candidates sometimes show ability beyond B2 level. If you achieve a scale score of 180–190 (grade A) in your exam, you will receive the First Certificate in English stating that you demonstrated ability at Level C1.
On average, you would need 7-9 months to reach the B2 level and get a good rating, but with enough determination it is possible to complete it for 6 months as well if you simply immerse yourself in the language.

A B2 level of English would allow you to function in the workplace in English, and indeed, many non-native English speakers in international workplaces have this level of English. A person working in English at a B2 level will, however, lack nuance particularly outside his own field.
Is there much difference between the exams? The answer is yes! You will need to work a lot harder and be serious about your preparation for the C1 Advanced exam. While the B2 First shows you have a good grounding in English, the C1 Advanced is closer to the level of a native speaker.
In summary, C2 level is considered the highest level of proficiency in the CEFR framework, and it's considered as a near-native speaker level of proficiency, but not equivalent to the proficiency of a native speaker.
How hard is B2 level German? The German language is complex yet highly systematic. For a systematic language, you need a systematic course structure though. If the course material you are using has a thought-out structure, then it shouldn't be difficult.
Level B1, which is sometimes referred to as 'Threshold' or 'Breakthrough' stage, is the point at which a French speaker moves away from the most simplistic language usage and is able to cope with most of the situations they are likely to encounter when travelling around a French-speaking country.
It depends how many hours you study per week and what kind of goals you set for yourself. But yes, B2 is possible within 6 months, however that would require: exposure to native speakers (even if only through TV, films or radio… I suggest to use all 3)
French C1 Reading Comprehension
Once again, at the C-levels this starts to get really tricky as you need to understand the subtle cues that the author is giving you. The questions are very far from asking you to find a simple fact in the text.
