Coca-Cola was invented by Dr. John Pemberton in 1886 in Atlanta USA and first began arriving on our shores by ship in the early 1900s before production began locally.
Coca-Cola contains sugar from sugar cane. The cane sugar is the same as you would buy in a supermarket to use at home in cooking, tea, coffee or in other drinks. Around 80 per cent of the sugar used in our drinks is grown in Australia, mostly in tropical north Queensland and northern New South Wales.
However, the water used in producing Coca-Cola in Australia and America is sourced locally before filtering. The local water source may add a slight difference in taste between bottling plants. The biggest difference is the sweetener used.
