In addition to causing content pain and itchiness, the suit is so constricting that it causes him to suffer from claustrophobia. He can only find relief by meditating in specially-constructed pressurized chambers where he can temporarily take off his suit and survive.
Palpatine put him in that suit because of two things: one, it allowed him an advantage over the other Sith if he was ever challenged and two, it was painful for Vader to wear. The latter gave Vader an advantage because his pain was converted into rage at his master and the Jedi, making him more powerful as a result.
Before canon it was stated in "Legends". That he was in constant pain, the suit was uncomfortable and purposefully so, since Palpatine never wanted Vader to reach his full potential.
If he were to take his mask off, the Sith Lord would soon suffocate. So it's the most crucial part of his armor. He can only breathe without the need for his mask when he is in one of his meditation chambers seen in The Empire Strikes Back.
The shoulder armor itself weighed 12.2 kg overall, was resistant to both blasters and energy blades, and was capable of withstanding hits from both weapon types with only minor surface pitting.
In the duel, Anakin lost both of his legs, his one remaining organic arm, and suffered (possibly up to) fourth-degree burns across what was left of his body that were severe enough to damage his internal organs.
Strong enough to lift a man off the ground with one arm. Interesting question.
Vader's suit took care of most of his need, which also included food. The suit feed Vader nutrients, which gave him the energy he needed to continue throughout his days. He also consumed RepMed vita paste through a straw, which was located within the grills of his mask.
Possibly the greatest improvement he ever made came in James Luceno's novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. Palpatine had informed Vader that he was aware that the suit was vulnerable to electrical attacks, notably his Force lightning. This led Vader to outfit his armor with electrical insulation.
This means that Vader has multiple suits. He just chooses not to change it, because doing so might remove Vader from his private cloister of brooding and meditation. This connection to the Dark Side, and not the physical armor he wears, makes Vader one of the most dangerous threats in the galaxy.
Darth Vader's suit includes a layer of artificial skin that constantly itches to the point that it drives him insane and makes it difficult to sleep. To deal with the unbearable itch, he has to have it scrubbed by droids frequently.
The armor's boots featured magnetic clamps, which could magnetically adhere the suit to a metallic surface. He weighed 120 kilograms in his armor, and was 2.03 meters tall in it. The armor also featured a remote to prep Vader's interceptor for combat.
The Force choke is an ability fueled by emotions that flow through the user. Although Darth Vader is best known for this power, other users of the dark side have employed Force hoke - including Savage Opress, Dooku, Kylo Ren, Barris, and Palpatine himself.
And while the suit did keep him alive, it also hindered Vader's abilities and potential as a Force-user. But unknown to Palpatine, this decision would result in his demise. Darth Vader was still undoubtedly powerful, and the suit made him more intimidating than Anakin could ever be. But the suit also limited his power.
18 Galen Marek. In Star Wars Legends and Canon, Galen Marek (Starkiller) is the only Jedi (other than Obi-Wan Kenobi) to put a beat down on Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker. Galen was secretly trained as a Sith Lord apprentice to Vader, but returned to the light side and the Jedi.
Strongest: Canonically the strongest Sith Lord in history was none other than Darth Vader. Darth Vader had the highest force potential in Sith history. He never reached that potential but still achieved a level of power unprecedented to all before him.
Even after his brutal scorching in the fires of Mustafar, sand remained the only natural phenomenon that Vader feared. To him, sand was a reminder that he'd failed to save his mother or Padme from death.
Purpose. Darth Vader's meditation chamber was a life support pod that allowed the Sith Lord to survive for extended periods without the helmet and mask of his suit. The injuries Vader sustained during his duel against Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar normally made this impossible.
History. Bacta tanks already existed during the Clone Wars, when the Galactic Republic used them to treat its injured soldiers. A bacta tank was located in Darth Vader's castle on Mustafar, where the Dark Lord would relax and meditate outside of his life support armor with a modicum of comfort.
Star Wars: Darth Vader Was FAR Weaker Than Anakin Skywalker.
The iconic villain Darth Vader has it all: heavy breathing; theme music; brute physical and mental power; and that impenetrable mask. In Vader's case, the mask shields his humanity, making him appear gothic and machine-like.
He could perform incredibly powerful Force Pushes and Grips, and was capable of breaking through the defenses of Force-Sensitive individuals. Vader was also adept at saber throw, which he would often utilize in combat to make up for his relative lack of mobility.
Darth Vader uses a Force push to throw Chelli Lona Aphra back and remove the Spark Eternal from her body. Force push was used to repel objects, moving them away from the user.
