This includes Mirabel's future-seeing uncle Bruno and her super-hearing cousin Dolores, who each had various opportunities to use their powers. Neither Bruno nor Dolores are the center of Encanto's story, but the movie gives audiences plenty of insight into their lives thanks to the exploration of the Madrigal family.
Born into the Madrigal family, Dolores is the eldest daughter of Félix and Pepa, and the older sister of Camilo and Antonio. In addition to being the niece of Julieta, Bruno, and Agustín, Dolores is also the cousin of Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel.
Bruno Madrigal is the deuteragonist of Disney's feature film Encanto. He is the only son and youngest child of Alma and Pedro, the youngest triplet brother of Julieta and Pepa, the brother-in-law of Félix and Agustín, and the uncle of Dolores, Camilo, Antonio, Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel.
Camilo is the middle child of Pepa and Félix, younger brother of Dolores and older brother of Antonio. In addition to being the nephew of Julieta, Bruno and Agustín, Camilo is also the cousin of Isabela, Luisa and Mirabel.
Why can Dolores hear Bruno? The truth is, Dolores isn't exactly sure what she hears when it comes to Bruno. Bruno left to live in the house's walls when Dolores was just a child, so she's listened to her uncle in the house for years. For Dolores, his sounds are a regular part of everyday life.
At some point, Dolores received a vision from her uncle Bruno, who told her that the "man of her dreams" would be out of her reach because he would be engaged to someone else. With her enhanced hearing, she listens to Mariano Guzmán, and, simply by listening to him, she falls in love with him.
Dolores's new boyfriend is electrician Paul "Paulie" Connell—and, the two have been inseparable for quite some time. “They're very happy together,” Dolores' friend Tom Murro told Page Six back in December. “He's a really nice guy. It's pretty new, but you can tell that they make a great match.”
She and her husband have three children: Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel, each of whom play important roles in Encanto. Julieta is next in line to lead the Madrigal family after Alma, and her caring and attentive disposition makes her perfect for the role.
Encanto 2 has yet to be officially confirmed by Disney, but recent developments at the House of Mouse might have given fans hope that we'll all be talking about Bruno again (if we even stopped). In February 2023, Disney confirmed sequels for Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia.
Dolores (voice of Adassa)
Dolores is Mirabel's cousin who's usually the first to know the town's biggest secrets, most compelling drama, and juiciest revelations. She can't help it: she was blessed with extraordinary hearing.
Bruno has a few Autistic traits. In the movie, he developed the form of ritual based off of a combination of superstition and possibly sensory stimming. He would “knock knock knock on wood” all around him which is a way of asking for protection in many cultures from certain spirits.
Tio Bruno is Abuela's only son and is not married, but he makes a great uncle for his nieces and nephews. He has the power to see visions of the future and eventually left the family to hide in Casita's walls, attempting to save his family from his visions.
Because of his unwelcome gift, he was considered the black sheep of the Madrigal family. Bruno's relationship with his mother Alma worsened over the years as she often doubted his capacity to help his family and community, causing Bruno to distance himself from the family.
Within Encanto then, Dolores' “squeak” means that she is talking about something potentially upsetting or heard information she was not supposed to know.
When Bruno finally reveals himself to the family, Dolores tells Camilo (Rhenzy Feliz), "I knew he never left." She adds, "I heard him every day." However, another Madrigal family member may have known about Bruno after all.
As for Mirabel not getting a door during her ceremony, it;s widely acknowledged that Mirabel's “power” is as the guardian of the family's magic itself and Mirabel being Abuela's successor, so instead of getting her own room and door, Casita's front door became Mirabel's.
However, in the film, Mirabel doesn't get a gift, which causes problems in her relationship with Abuela Alma (María Cecilia Botero). Alma is constantly worried about losing the magic and letting down her family, and the village.
Throughout Encanto, Mirabel has the nerve to figure out why the magical house is cracking, and she doesn't need supernatural gifts to accomplish her goal. Mirabel's gift is her intelligent determination, and she had that all along.
Isabela Madrigal is Luisa and Mirabel's eldest sister, gifted with the ability to grow flowers. Due to this, her family often see her as perfect, especially Abuela Alma. Mirabel is often annoyed at Isabela's entitled personality.
Bruno is a nine-year-old German boy and the novel's protagonist.
Alma Madrigal is the mother of Julieta, Pepa and Bruno and the grandmother of Mirabel, Isabela, Luisa, Camilo, Antonio, and Dolores, who all call her "Abuela". She is a kind woman who practically worships the candle that blessed the Madrigals with their magic gifts.
Dolores never ever showed jealousy or hatred towards Isabela for being their family's golden child, unlike Mirabel or possibly Camilo, and neither treats her badly or hate her because of her commitment to Mariano, the man she had fallen in love with and even seems to have some admiration and possibly understanding for ...
Julieta Madrigal: Julieta is Agustín's wife. Being accident prone, Agustín often needed to be healed by Julieta which led to them bonding.
Félix Madrigal is a supporting character in Disney's 2021 film Encanto. He is the husband of Pepa, the father of Dolores, Camilo, and Antonio, the uncle of Isabela, Luisa, and Mirabel. Since Félix married into the family, he has no magical gift of his own.
