No. Heimdall was stronger and more capable than the average Asgardian male, but he wasn't anywhere near a match for Thor. Thor is physically the strongest Asgardian; his closest rival in terms of raw strength is Hel. Those two are followed by Odin, Thor's half-brother Vidar, Balder, Loki, Valkyrie, and Sif.
That is exactly what the goddess Hel was. Being the daughter of Loki already made her very powerful. However, in her realm of the underworld, this half-decaying goddess was said to be even more powerful than Odin and many other Norse gods.
Superhuman Strength and Wicked Senses
Heimdall has super human strength and Asgardian durability, plus extraordinarily acute senses, bordering on the extrasensory. He can hear leaves falling and grass growing, can sense the life essences of Asgardian gods throughout Asgard's Nine Worlds.
Thor is far stronger, probably faster and has Mjolnir. Heimdall could probably evade Thor's attacks for some time but eventually Thor would hit him once, injuring him and breaking his concentration. From there it would just be a downward spiral.
Following Heimdall's unblockable Bifrost Sword Slam, he'll become temporarily stunned and vulnerable to melee attacks.
Once the battle starts, Heimdall comes face to face with Loki, and the pair battle by transforming into seals. After a heated battle, Heimdall is able to kill the trickster god. In the process though, Loki fatally injures Heimdall and brings down the protector of the Bifrost.
I would say Baldur. Even vulnerable, he is physically much stronger and faster than Heimdall. And the "Bifrost Arm" Heimdall lost much of his foresight at this stage.
To hurt him, Kratos must detonate the spear while Heimdall is holding it, which will stagger him for a brief moment. Sadly, it will be impossible to land any direct hits on Heimdall until his stagger meter has been filled, so players will need to repeat this process a few times.
Heimdall. The clearest definition of someone who is worthy of wielding Mjolnir is someone who is willing to put the safety of Asgard above their own. As the protector of the Bifrost, this is Heimdall's whole job.
They're both really bad but Zeus had the excuse of being corrupted and was under the influence of Pandora's box which made him act the way he did while Odin was always selfish and manipulative on his own naturally.
It is implied that much like Zeus, he has an intense fear of Kratos. Unlike the Olympian, however, Odin's fear was tempered by his knowledge of Kratos' power, not only being aware of the fate of the Greek pantheon, but also of him having faced and killed Modi, Magni, and Baldur.
From the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Thor has more raw strength than even Odin*. (Yes, there is always an exception…) From that same reference: Asgardians have three times the molecular density of normal Humans.
When Ragnarök, the end of the world as predicted by a seeress, came and the Bifrost broke, Heimdall blew his horn Gjallarhorn to awaken the Aesir gods. During the final battle, Heimdall fought the evil and treacherous Loki and they both died.
But his situation becomes grim as Gulltoppr is slain and as soon as Kratos lands his first hit, Heimdall becomes enraged and prompt to mistakes. His arrogance ultimately leads the God of Foresight to receiving a rather brutal death at the hands of Kratos, who promptly recovers Gjallarhorn in the process.
Kratos is equipped with the Draupnir spear, a new weapon in God of War: Ragnarok that overwhelms Heimdall's precognition and dazes him. While it may seem silly that Heimdall falls for the same trick multiple times, it suits his character: He refuses to accept that he can be hurt.
Heimdall can't read his thoughts, he can barely react to Kratos's incredibly fast punches, he also loses focus because he can't believe someone is actually besting him.
More accurately, Asgardians are extremely long-lived beings, Heimdall ages at a pace far slower than any normal human being, being able to live for thousands of years. Even though he is more than a thousand years old, Heimdall still looks like a young man by Earth standards.
When Mangog attacked Asgard, his latest assault left Heimdall blind when the monster took Heimdall's sword and used it to gouge out his eyes.
However, had Odin chosen to send Heimdall instead of Baldur, his powers would have quickly uncovered that Faye was dead, preventing the All-Father's fate in God of War Ragnarok.
As a son of two chief gods Odin and Freya, Baldur was one of the most powerful gods, with Odin and Thor being the only known Aesir to surpass him.
Known as Hermod the Swift, he was called upon by the other gods when they had a task requiring speed and urgency. Hermod wore a helmet and coat of mail given to him by Odin, and he always carried Gambantein, his magic wand or staff. He was also called Hermod the Bold, as he was courageous in war and loved a good fight.
Throughout the movie, Thor is able to keep tabs on the kids by communicating telepathically with Axl (Keiron L. Dyer), the son of Heimdall (Idris Elba).
He was a son of Odin and Blóðughadda, step-son of Frigg, younger half-brother of Thor and Týr, older half-brother of Baldur, uncle of Magni, Modi, Forseti and Thrúd, and step-uncle of Ullr.
