Just keep in mind that while your dog might enjoy this moment of connection, too much of a good thing might annoy them. Keep the booping limited to once or twice each occasion and you'll both be happy to embrace it as your special "handshake" of sorts.
A boop, simply put, is a gentle tap on the nose. In doing so to dogs, humans like to say "boop!" aloud — though, that's certainly not a requirement. Through this fun booping nose action, you can form a deeper connection with your dog. It can also be a sweet way to greet them.
However, if you go up to your canine and touch their nose, they will often recoil in fear. This is a biological function designed to protect themselves. Their nose is in a very exposed region and is one of their most valuable assets. As such they aim to protect it from any potential harm that may come their way.
Biologically, their noses are one of their most important parts and they use their noses for many things along with their noses being very sensitive to smell. So you touching their noses will scare them sometimes because it's their most important body part. they prefer booping on their own terms.

Not all dogs will appreciate this action. If you notice that your dog pulls their face away when you try and tap them on the nose, they are most likely signaling that they are not a fan. In these cases, a gentle back or head scratch will suffice as a bonding opportunity that they're sure to love.
Whether it's hitting, tapping, or bopping a dog on the nose as means of discipline, this aversive technique still falls short of the success found with using reward-based or positive training. Contemporary experts urge against all uses of physical discipline.
Be consistent. Puppies crave consistency in their daily routine and in puppy training. Correct bad dog behavior immediately and firmly every time it happens with a firm voice, a loud noise like a hand clap, or through redirection, like offering them a chew toy when they exhibit biting behavior.
“[Dogs] can't communicate with humans in the same way [that] they communicate with other dogs, so they try and get your attention by nudging you or bumping into you,” Rice told The Dodo. “When a dog bumps or nudges you with their nose, it is usually because they want your attention or they want something from you.”
Dogs often do this to get your attention for a variety of reasons. They typically want to be petted, played with, walked, or given food. Usually, it is pretty obvious what they are going for to most pet owners, but not all cases are so cut and dry. Some canines will do it for completely arbitrary reasons.
Paw sensitivity seems to be universal among dogs, although some dogs have stronger adverse reactions than others. Paw sensitivity is widely thought to be caused by a dog's natural or instinctive desire to protect its crucial body parts from harm.
It is not a natural sign of affection for a dog, so it can pose problems, which leads to jumping. One way a dog sees a hug is a threat. You are close to someone and your arms are wrapped around them. Your dog might think, “How on earth will they escape?!
When you kiss your dog, you might notice signs suggesting they recognize a kiss as a sign of affection. However, as puppies, this is not something they would understand. But, as dogs age they may associate kisses and cuddles with their owners being happy with them — as petting and treats often follow.
Dogs go crazy when you blow in their face because they basically just don't like it. If you keep on doing it, he's just going to get more and more confused and annoyed because he just hasn't got a clue what you're doing. It is something they can't understand and so find it very frustrating.
Huffing and Puffing: Huffing, puffing, or (in our house) “chuffing” is when the dog rapidly exhales a small amount of air, that sounds like a cross between an exhale and a bark. It's a form of stress relief, and can also be a precursor to escalating aggressive behaviors.
Bonding Occurs Naturally
It's okay when dogs choose a favorite person. In fact, it's natural! As social animals, dogs choose the person or people who give them plenty of love, attention, and positive experiences.
Older dogs with vision or hearing loss, or those experiencing cognitive decline, can suddenly become clingy because their world is becoming unfamiliar to them. Dogs who are ill or bored can also become clingy. Talk to your vet to understand what might be causing the sudden clingy behavior.
Most times, when your dog is touching you they are either trying to show you attention and affection, or they are desiring something for you. Your dog loves you and you are their pack leader, so any bit of touch brings them comfort, warmth, and love to some degree.
Your dog should understand that their place is on the floor where they are not equal to you. For the same reason you are discouraged from getting on the floor with your dog to play in “their territory,” you should not bring your dog into your territory.
The instant you feel your puppy's teeth touch you, give a high-pitched yelp. Then immediately walk away from him. Ignore him for 30 to 60 seconds. If your puppy follows you or continues to bite and nip at you, leave the room for 30 to 60 seconds.
Yelling encourages bad behavior
That shows your dog she has no incentive to come back. Instead, call your dog and when she comes back, praise her and give her a treat. If all you do is yell, why would your dog want to please you?
"Dogs forget an event within two minutes," reported National Geographic, citing a 2014 study performed on various animals from rats to bees. Other animals have long-term memories, such as dolphins, but dogs don't seem to have a long-term memory that lasts much beyond those two minutes.
The alpha roll is a controversial technique that stops aggression in dogs by forcibly rolling them over. Alpha rolls should not be used except in dire situations where the dog cannot be calmed down through any other means. It can instill fear in a dog and increase the dog's aggressive tendencies throughout their life.
