When your baby is around 3 or 4 months old, you should be able to slowly cut back on middle-of-the-night feedings, with the ultimate goal of getting your baby to sleep through the night. But be sure to talk to your pediatrician first, since some babies may need those night feeds for longer than the first few months.
Between the age of 2 to 3 months old, healthy babies are often able to sleep for six hours without feeding. Research suggests that about half of babies are able to sleep at least six hours without a nighttime feed by 3 months of age.
By age 3 months, and sometimes as early as 2 months, most infants are sleeping through the night, according to a new study, although their sleeping hours may not exactly match those of their parents early on.
Between the age of 3 and 6 months, some babies have 2 or 3 longish sleeps during the day, while others just have short naps. By 6 months of age, your baby is developmentally ready to start sleeping through the night without a feeding — or at least for longer stretches.
From a developmental perspective, babies are able to sleep through the night — defined as a six- to eight-hour stretch — without eating when they're between 4 and 6 months old. At 3-6 months of age, your baby probably only needs 1-2 feeds per night: one at the beginning of the night (could be a dream feed), and one in the early hours of the morning. Unless there is a concern with their weight, they are unlikely to need more than that.
Night wake ups are still really variable at 3 months. Anywhere between 2 and 6 times a night is normal. If you've got a baby who's been waking up 6 times a night for 2 months straight, you might feel at your wit's end, but you should know that this is not something to be alarmed about.
There's no need to give your newborn baby a bath every day. Three times a week might be enough until your baby becomes more mobile. Bathing your baby too much can dry out your baby's skin.
This month, your baby will be much more aware of familiar people and even objects. Your 3-month-old may smile at the sound of your voice, turn towards sounds, and follow moving objects and faces intently. Rolling over. Towards the end of the month, your baby may attempt to roll over from their tummy to their back.
Drooling usually begins at about 2-3 months of age. The first drooling phase lasts until the child reaches 12-15 months of age. Your child is entering the teething stage, which means that drooling will most likely increase. Remember, saliva bathes the teeth and gums, helping wash away excess food and bacteria.
Some of the most common reasons that healthy babies sleep for longer than usual include the following: They may experience a growth spurt or developmental leap. They may have a minor illness, such as a cold. They may have a serious infection.
If your baby is older than 6 months, and/or weighs more than 15 pounds, then barring any medical issues, they are absolutely capable of sleeping through the night (11-12 hours) without needing a feed. But this is only true if they are able to take in their entire caloric needs during the daytime hours.
Put baby skin to skin to smell the breast. For the first few days you may need to wake them to feed if they are still sleeping by 3 hours from the last day feeding and 4 hours at night. If baby still won't eat, allow baby to sleep another hour and try again to wake and feed them.
Do Babies Naturally Drop Night Feeds? It is natural for babies to drop night feeds on their own. This is because your baby will be able to last longer without food. You can start to prep your baby to drop night weaning by gradually giving him less time on the breast each night.
E (EAT): When your baby wakes from nighttime or nap sleep, you'll want to immediately feed them. The purpose of the EWS cycle is to break the association that “feeding time means sleepy time" and to encourage full feedings. To do this, make sure the baby is fed as soon as they awaken.

Growth spurts can occur at different ages, but the most common are 3 weeks to 4 weeks, 7 weeks, 10 weeks, 3 months to 4 months, 6 months, and 18 months. During a growth spurt, it is very likely that your baby will be sleeping more than usual.
Check how your baby is sucking
If he latches on well and takes long, drawn out pulls, then he's likely hungry and actually eating. But if his sucking motion is shorter and shallower, then he's probably sucking for comfort.
