Try not to take it personally There's nothing wrong with you or gross about your period—in fact, it means you're perfectly healthy. You can politely offer to give him the low down on what periods entail and why you have them. If he's really rude, feel free to put the verbal smack-down on him.
The most important thing is to be honest about how you both feel. Tell them you're on your period, ask if they're cool (or not) and take it from there. No pressure. No drama.

Self-care and managing PMS symptoms.
If you suffer from PMS or PMDD, explain it to your partner. If you have a good boyfriend/girlfriend etc., they should be understanding. Listen to what your body and mind are telling you. Ask for what you need.
Although men will not bleed, nor will they experience all of the same symptoms as women, these hormonal shifts can have some pretty notable side effects, especially with mood and irritability. Some call it the “man period” others call it Irritable Male Syndrome, either way, it can be quite similar to a woman's PMS.
