DO NOT USE 'SAVLON' cream or any other antiseptic cream similar to savlon. This will dry out and ruin your tattoo, antiseptic cream is designed to Push/Pull dirt out from the skin, and so recognises Ink particles as 'dirt' and will trick your body into rejecting the Ink.
Savlon Antiseptic Cream is a healing cream that can gently sooth and aid in preventing infection. It also helps promote natural healing. It is a smooth white cream that has a slight antiseptic odour and can be used in the aftercare and healing of new tattoos and piercings.
Although Savlon is formulated for healing open wounds, tattoos are a different kind of wound. It's for this reason that we still do not recommend using Savlon until your tattoo has had at least a week or two of healing. It should be applied in a small, thin layer that absorbs quickly.
Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
Apply a moisturising antibacterial cream to your tattoo (Bepanthen Ointment or Savlon work well) and make sure it is well rubbed in.

Here's what someone should avoid when it comes to tattoo aftercare: Soaps and moisturizers with any fragrances or harsh chemicals. Even if a product does not normally irritate the skin, it may irritate the tattooed area. Picking at scabs, as this can cause scar tissue to form.
Bepanthen is by far one of the most highly recommended tattoo aftercare products and is the go-to ointment for most tattoo artists and studios. Typically used as nappy rash ointment, Bepanthen has been around for a long time, and its gentle formula is used to treat babies with irritated skin.
Do not use Savlon, Sudacrem, Bepanthen or any other creams that contain Lanolin or (Liquid)Paraffin on your new tattoo. These creams are not suitable for use on tattoos as they are too thick and can block the pores in the skin, potentially causing an infection.
Savlon Bites & Stings Gel is not suitable for use on animal bites such as dog or cat bites but is an effective treatment for insect bites and stings, such as gnat bites or bee stings. If you have been bitten by an animal, please seek medical advice from your GP or local emergency department.
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients, especially Chlorhexidine as it may cause allergic reactions. Savlon contains cetostearyl alcohol and parahydroxybenzoates that may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis) or allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
Bepathen is a popular antiseptic ointment choice. However, other antiseptic ointments include Savlon and Soov. Any of the three can be used on new ink once gently cleaned with a combination of antimicrobial soap and lukewarm water.
Be sure your artist covers your new tattoo in a thin layer of petroleum jelly and a bandage. Remove the bandage after 24 hours. Gently wash the tattoo with antimicrobial soap and water and be sure to pat dry. Apply a layer of antibacterial/Vaseline ointment twice a day, but don't put on another bandage.

A&D ointment (yes, the kind used for diaper rash) is a cheap and popular choice for new tattoo aftercare. This ointment is also called Bepanthen. Aquaphor Advanced Healing Ointment is another hydrating and anti-inflammatory option. Good old petroleum jelly (aka Vaseline) also works well.

Bepanthen's designed as an anti-rash treatment for babies. This may indicate that it'll be useful for treating sensitive skin, but it's not! Bepanthen isn't suitable for tattoos because it contains many harsh chemical additives: Petrolatum.
A white cream lotion or moisturizer, preferably unscented, should be used! We recommend these fragrance-free, white cream lotions: Aveeno , Curel , and Eucerin .

On the fourth day, wash it like normal, let it air dry and from that day stop wrapping it in cling film and stop using Bepanthen. Now start moisturising it. I use E45 moisturising lotion. It works for all different skin types.
