God is unconditional in his love for us. All he asks is that we believe that. In John 15 Jesus said that if we “make ourselves at home with me, [Jesus] and my words are at home in you, you can be sure whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon” (MSG Bible).
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. – John 15:7. I chose and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
Matthew 6:7–16 from the 1845 illuminated book of The Sermon on the Mount, designed by Owen Jones. In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
ASK GOD FOR YOUR NEEDS BECAUSE HE CARES
God need not be told of our needs, He already knows. However, He instructs us to daily bring our petitions to Him in the place of prayer simply because He cares and wants us to be aware of this fact. He is a good Dad! God is also Love and love gives.
How Many Times Should I Ask God For Something? The answer to this question is that you should ask until you get the answer. When you believe you have the answer, it would be silly to ask again.
God never grows weary of listening to his children. In fact, Jesus told us to keep on asking, keep on seeking, and keep on knocking (Matthew 7:7, AMP). God isn't deaf either. He hears us the first time we ask.
Jesus prayed on the night before His death — “Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass — but not as I will, but as You will.” Should you pray for what you want? Yes!
Asking "why?" suggests a hostility toward God's character, that He isn't really good or cannot really be trusted, or a belief that we know better than the Creator Himself. Ouch. It's not always easy.
God, reveal to me how these desires planted in my heart can grow into an expression of the purpose You have for me to make a difference in the world. Lord, lead me to initiate or find activities that can bring me clarity and validation of what I am being called to become and fulfill for Your glory.
God tells us in Matthew 6:8, “Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” But in the next verses he tells us to pray for our needs. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 God commands us to pray continually. That means to pray a lot! Prayer is God's way for us to receive what we need from Him (Heb.
Invite others to pray with you.
We all have times when we are just too tired or discouraged to keep praying, and we need others to come alongside to support us. Even Moses — who led the Israelites out of Egypt — needed a little help from his friends.
He also speaks to us through the glory of His creation. Additionally, He speaks to us through His Holy Spirit and through dreams, visions and our thoughts. Further, God will use events and circumstances to speak with us. More often than not, God uses the people He has placed in our lives to speak to us.
Bargaining Looks For the Wrong Things the Wrong Way
The only thing we could offer God that would honor His matchless worth is our very selves, a living sacrifice. God does not need us as servants, but He wants us as sons. When we bargain with God, we misunderstand what God wants, and misunderstand who God is.
Praying for others is good for our walk with God. It can soften our hearts to concerns outside of ourselves. But we are never told in the Bible that our prayers should be limited to the concerns of others. Asking for God's blessing for ourselves should also be a significant part of our prayer lives.
There is no prayer request too small or too big for God. We can boldly share the concerns and desires of our heart and ask Him to supply our every need (Philippians 4:6).
Although greatly controversial, it's true that God doesn't always save everyone who calls on his name. In Psalm 18, we find the testimony of King David and how God spared him when he was on the run from Saul and his men.
Tell God what you want or need and ask Him to provide that for you. Be specific about your request. Even though God knows what you want and need, He wants you to ask Him for it. God can answer vague prayers, but being specific creates a deeper bond between you and Him.
James 1:6. "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind."
God, our loving Heavenly Father, wants us to communicate with Him through prayer. He always listens to us when we pray. Daily prayer can bless you, your family, and those you pray for. It can also invite more peace into your life, help you learn more about God's plan for you, and more.
Through the scriptures, we are taught that God will always hear our prayers and will answer them if we address Him with faith and real intent. In our hearts we will feel the confirmation that He does hear us, a feeling of peace and calm. We can also feel that everything will be fine when we follow the Father's will.
So, yes, God does hear our prayers. It may be that the answer He is giving is for you not to give up praying, it may be to stop certain sins in your life, it may be a silence that calls you closer in order to learn the sound of His still small voice. But He hears.
Prayer is simply talking to God -- and the most important thing I can say about this is that God wants you to talk to Him! He loves us and He has promised to hear us when we pray. How can you learn to pray?
John 14:13-14 says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” God is always willing to answer prayers made in Jesus' name because of the powerful authority it carries.
