Hence, there is no Sharia objection in using IUD to prevent pregnancy because it does not work as abortion; knowing fully well that some jurists have permitted abortion of fetus before soul is breathed into it, though subject to different scholarly opinions.
The Quran does not prohibit birth control, nor does it forbid a husband or wife to space preg- nancies or limit their number. Thus, the great majority of Islamic jurists believe that family plan- ning is permissible in Islam.
"Limitation of numbers" or family planning is permitted for preserving the good life, for ensuring economic security, for preserving the health of the wife, and, by implication, when the consent of the wife is given. Azl (coitus interruptus) is definitely permitted with the consent of the wife.
As mentioned in the literature relating to contraception and Islamic belief, vasectomy or tubectomy (i.e. tubal ligation) is permissible to prevent pregnancy as long as the procedure is temporary (i.e. reversible).
The Roman Catholic church forbids contraceptive use because it is a sin against nature. Some Protestant denominations have allowed contraceptive use.
A Mortal Sin
On New Year's Eve 1930, the Roman Catholic Church officially banned any "artificial" means of birth control. Condoms, diaphragms and cervical caps were defined as artificial, since they blocked the natural journey of sperm during intercourse.
The Church teaches that using artificial contraception is wrong because: it is against 'natural law' it breaks the natural connection between the procreative and the unitive purposes of sex. it turns sex into a non-marital act.
According to Islamic law, there are not ethical or religious problems in carrying out an insemination with partner sperm, as long as it is done between a married couple.
'Neutering or sterilizing animals, while not encouraged in Islam, is not completely forbidden either. Abdullah ibn Umar, a companion of the Prophet, reported that the Prophet forbade the neutering of horses and other animals.
Below, we consider Islam's view on marriage and childbirth in the context of male fertility, but generally speaking, no religious objection exists in Islam to infertile couples pursuing fertility treatments including IVF, micro-assisted conception techniques, and surgical sperm collection, as long as it is intended for ...
Couples who do have sex need to use birth control properly and consistently to prevent pregnancy. For example, the birth control pill can be effective in preventing pregnancy. But if pills are skipped, it isn't an effective method. Condoms can be an effective form of birth control too.
CONCLUSION. The Muslim child has a number of Allah given rights; these include the right to be born through a legitimate union, to know fully one's parentage, to be suckled, and to be reared with kindness and respect.
Contraceptives that are more than 99% effective:
intrauterine system, or IUS (up to 5 years) intrauterine device, or IUD, also called the coil (up to 5 to 10 years) female sterilisation (permanent) male sterilisation or vasectomy (permanent)
IUDs are considered both safe and effective. Complications — while rare — may include: Expulsion: Your IUD may slip out of your uterus. When this happens, it usually occurs during your period, within the first few months after it's been inserted.
The Prophet's sayings appear to support contraception. And while jurists do no agree on the issues of birth prevention, the eminent jurist Al Ghazali clearly gave his consent for withdrawal as a way to prevent pregnancy in order to save a woman's health and live, avoid financial hardship, or other domestic problems.
The non-hormonal copper intrauterine device (IUD) (Picture 1) is a small, T-shaped plastic device wrapped in copper with two strings attached. The copper IUD slowly releases copper into the uterus. This keeps sperm from fertilizing an egg. The copper IUD does not have any hormones.
In our opinion, the original ruling of shaving leg hair for both men and women is permissible. The reason for this is that there is no commandment to shave it nor is there a prohibition to keep it.
The religious etiquettes of Islam specify that removal of pubic hair should be initiated at menarche, and done at least once every 40 days [13, 20].
The Standing Committee for Scholarly Research and Fatwa noted that a woman can remove everything except her eyebrows and the hair on her head; it is not permissible for her to remove those, or to remove anything from the eyebrows whether by shaving or any other means”.
In vitro fertilization is permissible as long as the semen and ovum are from a husband and wife who are legally married and the fertilization takes place during their marriage, not after divorce or the death of the husband.
Therefore, oncofertility would not be deemed a “necessity” for infertile women. Nevertheless, Islamic law considers offspring of men and women a basic marital right. For this reason, husbands and wives are permitted to divorce each other for infertility and impotence, respectively.
declared Islamically permissible,46 only if the following conditions are satisfied. First, the IVF must involve a married couple. Sec- ond, the sperm must be from the husband, and the eggs from the wife. Third, this must occur within the context of a valid marriage.
An IUD Does Not Invalidate Sacraments.
The Catholic Church's position is that it's against all birth control that it deems as artificial. That includes the birth control pill and condoms, and medical procedures such as vasectomy and sterilization.
The Catholic Church has come to teach that the use of natural family planning (NFP) by married couples to avoid procreation is morally acceptable for iustae causae, “just causes,” in the words of Pope Paul VI's encyclical Humanae vitae and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
