Kanao is a dedicated demon slayer and a good friend to Tanjiro. She hardly ever speaks, even to Tanjiro. Instead, she flips coins to make her decisions for her, making her oddly similar to Two-Face from the Batman comics. She might have a few words for Tanjiro, though, with or without that coin.
Kanao never spoke before being adopted into the Demon Slayer Corps and continued to have difficulty speaking after officially joining the other demon slayers. To help with her indecisiveness and other struggles, Kanao often flips a coin she received as a gift.
In hopes of rectifying Kanao's problem, Kanae bequeathed the young girl with a coin which Kanao would flip to decide what to do when she was unsure of herself. She remained emotionally stunted for several years and expressed practically no desire to speak of.
The latest episode of the Kimetsu no Yaiba turns its attention to Kanao Tsuyuri, the silent demon slayer who passed the Final Selection alongside Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira earlier in the series.
As we all have seen in the last chapter, Kanao used flower breath's final form, which may cause her to become blind (according to Shinobu). In this battle with Douma, it's been established pretty heavily that Kanao's eyes are special. And since then Douma started targeting her eyes (with his weapon and with his ice).
She recalls that when Kanae died, she was unable to cry, but no one judged her for it. Kanao remembers how Kanae had advised her to value her comrades, and wonders if she did so correctly this time, as she cries for Shinobu.
During his second encounter with Muzan Kibutsuji, he injures his right eye in the Infinity Castle. As the battle progresses, Tanjiro suddenly collapses and his wound begins to form a large mass over his right eye due to the poison inflicted on him by Muzan.
The muzzle serves as a representation of Buddhist practices. First, it gags Nezuko, preventing her from speaking like a Buddhist monk's vow of silence, but it also is there to suppress her desire to eat humans. Through a Buddhist lens, Nezuko's muzzle is the symbol of a Buddhist monk.
Demon Slayer's adorable icon Nezuko has stolen fans' hearts for five key reasons, earning her the title “Best Girl” of the series.
Curse of Kibutsuji
The curse prevents Muzan's name from being spoken aloud, and any who do will meet a horrible demise. One demon, Susamaru, faced this reality when battling Tamayo. Susamaru accidentally shot Muzan's name aloud, attempting to defend his honor with her mind clouded.
Kanao is a youthful little girl that has large gentle eyes with irises that go from pink to lilac. She has long black hair tied with a butterfly pin fastened into a ponytail to the right side.
A Nisei (second-generation Japanese-Canadian), Kanao Inouye was born to immigrant parents in Kamloops, British Columbia.
Kanao Tsuyuri, Shinobu's adoptive sister, holds the rank of Tsuchinoto, one rank higher than the aforementioned Slayers. As a Tsuguko, she is expected to succeed her Hashira sister in the future.
Kanao and Tanjiro would eventually marry and start a family, having two great-great-grandchildren by the names of Kanata Kamado and Sumihiko Kamado between them.
1 Mitsuri Kanroji
Mitsuri has a strange connection with her renown for strength while being secure in her talents as a powerful Hashira.
The young Tanjiro is not only one of the greatest demon slayers, but thanks to his kind nature, he's also one of the most honorable characters of the series. Tanjiro not only showed selflessness and love towards his sister and the people he cared for but even showed kindness towards his demonic enemies.
Shinobu Kocho's tragic backstory is one of the most heart-wrenching in Demon Slayer. She and her sister, Kanae, were orphaned at a young age after their parents were killed by a demon.
The now-iconic bamboo muzzle serves as a way of stopping Nezuko from using her teeth, and also keeps her from tasting human blood, which would cause her to lose control of herself.
Due to her demon abilities, Nezuko can change her size/age and appear “mature” in a slightly older form or can even make herself look younger and smaller than a 12-year-old.
However, in later volumes, the muzzle is removed and she gains the power of speech in volume 22 then remembers everything and gets her human thoughts again and remembers her name, albeit very broken due to not speaking for more than two years.
Though he eventually avenges his family during the final battle, he loses his left arm and right eye in the process while being fatally wounded. Both are restored during Muzan's attempt to turn him into his successor by transforming him into a demon, though with the aid of his friends, he becomes human once again.
The fuming rage that Tanjiro felt from seeing Daki destroy human lives helped him push past his limits while also making him bleed through his eyes in anger, resulting in his eye colors changing to bloodshot red.
During his battle with Muzan Kibutsuji, he lost his right arm.
