Point of Origin
The Hornblower Niagara boat tour is from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. It is located on Niagara Parkway at the foot of Clifton Hill. If you are touring Niagara Falls, USA, it would make sense to take the Maid of the Mist. Tourists in Niagara Falls, Canada, take the Hornblower Niagara boat ride.
The answer to the question “is there a Maid of the Mist on the Canadian side?” is no, there is no Maid of the Mist on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Since 2014, the Maid of the Mist stopped running in Niagara Falls, Canada.
Cave of the Winds is located on the American side of the Falls, on Goat Island at Niagara Falls State Park in Niagara Falls, USA. Journey Behind the Falls is located on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, in the Table Rock Centre beside the Canadian Horseshoe Falls in Ontario, Canada.
If you like to see the Niagara falls from the best side, then go to the Canadian side. It's easy to go to both sides (USA and Canada) because you can easy walk from one border to the other.
Well, the Maid of the Mist glides from the US side of Niagara Falls from the boarding dock located in the Niagara Falls State Park, New York. Whereas the Hornblower Niagara Cruise sets its sails from the Canadian side from Niagara Parkway at the foot of Clifton Hill.
Hornblower offers several tour options and attraction packages, including the Voyage to the Falls, Sunset Cocktail Cruise, and Falls Illumination/Fireworks Cruise, allowing you to customize your experience.
Yes. Children under 5 are allowed on Maid of the Mist, and that too for FREE with an adult.
Many staying on the Canadian side walk or drive to the American side to visit the Maid of the Mist. We are located in Niagara Falls State Park right across the Rainbow Bridge, about a 10 minute walk from the Canadian side.
Be prepared to get wet: the Maid of the Mist practically dunks you under the falls, but rain gear is provided and many say that this is one of the best ways to experience the splendor of Niagara Falls. In fact, it's one of the region's best guided tours.
The two experiences, Canada (truly behind the falls) and the US (bottom of the falls) are very different. If you can only do one AND you have done one of the boats (Maid of the Mist if on the American side), then do the Behind the Falls on the Canadian side.
The Mist TV series was canceled by Spike, and the chances of The Mist season 2 are unlikely due to mixed reviews and a lack of audience excitement. The Mist season 2 would have explored the origins of the mist and focused on a military conspiracy, but the story never advanced beyond the first season.
The show took a psychological horror approach to The Mist and failed to include the horrific monsters from the book — a decision that ultimately backfired. The show's lack of likable characters was another issue, so while the material itself might be adapted again in the future, The Mist season 2 isn't likely.
The answer is yes! While you do get wet, you do not get soaked. Mist is the key word here! Just tuck that camera under your poncho when you're not using it and it will be fine!
It is best if you wear flip-flops or other footwear that will dry off soon. You can avoid getting wet on the Hornblower Niagara Cruise by standing in the glassed off area on the lower deck. Feeling the cascading water fall on you is an exhilarating experience you will remember for the rest of your life!
While Journey Behind the Falls takes you on a tour behind the cascading waters, Maid of the Mist offers a unique perspective from the water, taking you a stone's throw away from the falls.
The best time to go for the Niagara Falls boat ride is early in the morning as soon as it is open. The crowds are fewer and the wait time is less. Midday to late afternoon, you might have to wait for more than an hour to board the boat. The waiting time is also less towards closing time.

There is no way to get to the boat except the elevator. There are steps to the right side of the boat that you can climb to get a better view of the American Falls. The elevator is very fast as it goes down 200 feet. Helpful?
Q: Do I need a passport to ride the Maid of the Mist? A: No, passports are only required when entering another country or returning to the United States. They are not required to ride the Maid of the Mist.
As you may know, the falls split the border between Ontario, Canada, and New York, USA. You can view the falls from both the American side and the Canadian side but, in our humble opinion, the best way to see them is from the Canadian side.
From Niagara Falls USA, visitors can cross the Rainbow Bridge, connecting Downtown Niagara Falls, N.Y. to Niagara Falls, Ontario. Pedestrians are permitted on the pedestrian walkway.
The Canadian side is where you get gorgeous panoramas of both the American Falls and the mighty Horseshoe Falls. It's definitely the more glamorous side of Niagara Falls.
