Ultimately, Love and Thunder confirms that the God of Thunder is still worthy as Thor wields Mjolnir once more, but the delay both helps
Why did Mjolnir choose Jane? The short answer is yes, Thor is still worthy of lifting Mjolnir after Thor: Love and Thunder. His worthiness comes down to the reason why Mjolnir chose Jane. In the comic books, Mjolnir does choose Jane to be Thor after Thor becomes unworthy and is unable to lift it.
Whatever was said to Thor caused him to be unworthy to wield Mjolnir. As a result of Thor being unable to lift Mjolnir a mysterious woman become the new wielder of the hammer. It was revealed a few issues later to be Jane Foster. That put Thor on a journey to once again become worthy and regain his hammer.
Others believe Thanos lifted Mjolnir (although briefly) and have even argued that he would be worthy of doing so. So, can Thanos lift Mjolnir? In reality, Thanos didn't even try to take the hammer because he knew he wasn't worthy of it.
Even without Hemsworth wanting to step down from the role, Marvel has been planning possible replacements for Thor for a while. As it stands, there are three potential candidates in the form of Love, a returning Mighty Thor, and an as-yet unseen Beta Ray Bill.
Thor star's recent revelation about having an elevated risk of developing Alzheimer's disease could influence his decision to take on fewer projects, including future Thor films, as he prioritizes his health. Until Marvel Studios or Hemsworth provide further information, the future remains open to speculation.
Jane Foster is Thor's latest successor, both in the comics and in the MCU. Mjölnir adopted Jane as its master in the midst of her battle with cancer. After Thor lost the ability to wield his hammer, Jane – an ambassador for Earth in Asgard's Congress of Worlds – was telepathically contacted by the thunder god's hammer.
Other than Thor and Odin, certain other individuals have proven worthy of lifting Mjolnir in the primary continuity: Roger "Red" Norvell (a deliberate ruse by Odin) Beta Ray Bill. Buri (also known as Tiwaz, Thor's great-grandfather)
How Can Captain America Lift Thor's Hammer? Simple: Steve Rogers is worthy. The inscription on Mjolnir reads “Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” It doesn't matter how strong you are, if you aren't worthy, you can't lift Thor's hammer, no matter how hard you try.
Beta Ray Bill, one of Marvel's most unique-looking heroes, was the first Marvel character who wasn't a Norse deity to be able to wield Mjolnir. A member of the Korbinite race, Bill was chosen to lead his people, and in his journey stumbled upon Thor. The alien warrior defeated the God of Thunder and claimed his hammer.
He was rendered unworthy, because in his heart he believed what Fury said was true. In effect, Thor knew “how it feels to be mortal” and in his mind mortals are unworthy of Mjolnir and the powers of Thor. It's important to note here that Thor's unworthiness was of his own design.
Thor is Immortal, Not Invincible
It's clear that age doesn't affect him the way it does normal mortals, as with most immortals, he is aging at a slower rate. While Thor will eventually die, it will take thousands of years for it to happen.
Fat Thor's depression led to his mental and physical decline, which is why he was less powerful in Avengers Endgame than in Ragnarok and Infinity War.
Originally there was no restriction placed on the hammer for who can use it but after Thor's reckless behavior, Odin Borson placed an enchantment on it. This spell read "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor." Only those deemed worthy to lift Mjolnir can.
Despite becoming worthy again, Thor noticed Mjolnir becoming heavier to lift after becoming Asgard's new All-Father, the will of the hammer deeming him unworthy of wielding it.
Like Stormbreaker, Mjolnir also allows Thor to wield thunder and lightning; however, it's not capable of summoning the Bifrost. The magic hammer did develop a power Stormbreaker couldn't, though, and it's able to detach its broken pieces to attack multiple enemies at once, before coming together again.
The original Avengers are all heroes, but they were never worthy of Mjolnir. The key to worthiness is utter selflessness and total absolution. While some disagree and believe Captain America has always been worthy, he is still the only one of the original Avengers, besides Thor, to be worthy of Mjolnir.
It turns out the secret he was keeping about Tony Stark's parents – that Bucky (Sebastian Stan) was behind their deaths –was weighing on his mind, making him “not completely worthy” of wielding it.
Mjolnir has been manipulated in different ways in Marvel Comics, and many years ago, Iron Man was able to hold the hammer… thanks to zero gravity, meaning that he didn't properly lift it and he would have still not been able to wield it on Earth because he wasn't worthy.
Surprisingly, This wasn't the only time that Iron Man lifted Mjolnir. In 1974's Avengers #122 by Steve Englehart, Bob Brown, and Mike Esposito, Iron Man lifted Mjolnir in outer space, but once he neared Earth's gravity field, his hand was pinned. This proved anyone could wield Thor's hammer where there is no gravity.
Tony Stark in the first Avengers film was willing to fling himself through a giant hole over New York with a nuclear weapon. That willingness to sacrifice his life was noble and incredible, but it did not grant him the power to lift Mjolnir. To lift Mjolnir, Tony would need to be selfless in a very different sense.
Kang has arrived. At Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige made official what many fans had been theorizing for some time: Kang the Conqueror is the MCU's next Thanos-like villain.
Riri Williams flew onto the screen as the next Iron Man character, Ironheart, complete with a brand new iron suit. After the death of Robert Downey Jr's Tony Stark in Avengers Endgame, the thought of a new Iron Man might be a little hard to swallow, but not for the actor himself.
Tony Stark's death in Avengers: Endgame has left the MCU with a major hole to fill. While characters like Doctor Strange and Spider-Man could become the new faces of the shared universe, it will be Riri Williams who will serve as Iron Man's more direct replacement.
