Urinating in public is a form of 'offensive conduct' offence in NSW. It is also considered a 'summary offence', which means that anyone charged with this offence must have his/her case dealt with in the Local Court, not District or Supreme Court.
(1) A person commits an offence if the person urinates in a public place (other than in a toilet). Maximum penalty: 10 penalty units. (2) An offence against this section is a strict liability offence. Note Circumstances of sudden and extraordinary emergency is a defence in relation to the offence.
The maximum penalty for an offence is a fine of $660 or imprisonment for three months.
Most penalties for public urination are laid out in the by-laws of individual local authorities under section 235 of the Local Government Act 1972. If you get caught going for a wee in public you are likely to be hit with a Penalty Notice for Disorder (PND) under Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986.
By urinating in public, you may inadvertently damage the property of others. This can result in either criminal charges or a civil case being made against you. In some cities, property damage is considered an automatic consequence of urinating in public, under city ordinance laws.
Place your feet in a comfortable wide stance and drop your bum low to the ground. The lower you are the more stable you'll be as your center of gravity gets lower to the ground. You can also then bunch your pants together in front of you to minimize the chances of peeing on them. Ok, not everyone can squat.
Provided you agree with your contractor that it's fine to urinate in your yard, and they find a private spot, it shouldn't be a legal problem. However, it's a different story if they relieve themselves in full view of a public road or other neighbors, as public urination is illegal in the United States.
If you do need to go to the toilet while stuck in stationary traffic, your choices are limited. Men may be able to discreetly use a plastic bottle. Otherwise the only option may be to explore the verge beyond the hard shoulder, using a scarf or towel to protect your dignity.
`(1) A person who urinates or defecates in any public place otherwise than by using a lavatory commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale. (2) An offence under this section is a penalty offence for the purposes of Chapter I of Part I of this Act.
Recent scientific studies have shown urine is a safe and very effective fertilizer for cabbage, beets, cucumbers, and tomatoes, and pretty much anything else you want to grow. Urine boasts a nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (N-P-K) ratio of 10:1:4, plus more modest amounts of the trace elements plants need to thrive.
Unlike some other jurisdictions, there is no separate offence of 'public urination'. In NSW, this conduct is captured under 'offensive conduct' in the Summary Offences Act.
This offence is a summary offence with a maximum penalty of 3-months imprisonment or $660 fine with a criminal conviction in the Local Court.
What is the penalty? The standard penalty for a public urination offence is 2 penalty units which is about $200.
If you're busting, there's an old law that supposedly allows you to pull over and take a leak, but, take note, only specifically on the rear left tyre. This road rule is said to be for everywhere in Australia, however public urination is actually also considered an offence.
Penalties for Public Nuisance in Queensland
It is stated in section 6 of the Summary Offences Act that the maximum penalty for public nuisance in Queensland is 10 penalty units (which equates to a fine of $5,200) or 6 months' imprisonment.
(5) A person is guilty of public urination if the person urinates or defecates: (a) in a public place, other than a public rest room; and. (b) under circumstances which the person should know will likely cause affront or alarm to another.
Over the past few months, we've been introduced to a phrase we thought we'd never hear: the “serial pooper,” which refers to someone who continually poops in public, leaving the fruits of their labor on display for all to see.
Open defecation refers to the practise of defecating in fields, forests, bushes, bodies of water, or other open spaces. Defecating in the open is an affront to dignity and risk to children's nutrition and to community health.
5 Harassment, alarm or distress.
(b)displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening [F1or abusive], within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby.
If you were attempting to pee in a bottle while driving, you would likely run afoul of these laws, and could be cited if you were pulled over for doing so. If you were a passenger doing so, there's a possibility of being cited for indecent exposure, if what you were doing were visible to passersby.
If you are driving on the motorway, bear in mind it is illegal to stop on the hard shoulder because you need the toilet. You need to drive on to the next exit or services. According to the RAC, stopping on the hard shoulder is only permitted: In a breakdown.
Pee in the dark.
If you are out at night, you might be tempted to pee against a street lamp, but this will only make it easier for a police officer to spot you. Instead, pick a dark, shadowy alley or an unlit park. If you are out with friends, make sure they know you are going into a dark spot to pee.
Urine is chock full of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, which are the nutrients plants need to thrive—and the main ingredients in common mineral fertilizers.
Urine contains a number of beneficial nutrients also found in commercial fertilizer, such as “nitrogen, a little bit of phosphorus and potassium, which are all needed for a healthy lawn,” Owen Duckworth, associate professor of biogeochemistry at North Carolina State University, told Popular Mechanics.
Drops of urine can splash up to 36 inches from the toilet, landing on a wall, mirror, or, god forbid, even your toothbrush. (This also seems to suggest that peeing in the shower isn't quite as clean and hygienic as some people seem to think.)
