The urinary bladder is a temporary storage reservoir for urine.
Urine is constantly produced by the nephron and it is released from the kidney. The urine is removed from the kidney through the ureters to the urinary bladder where the urine is stored. Continuous urination is not possible, so temporary storage in the urinary bladder is essential.
