SIM PIN is an optional feature that when enabled, prevents a SIM card from being used by others for phone calls or cellular data. Every time the device is restarted or the SIM Card is removed, the SIM card will automatically lock and display "Locked SIM" in the status bar.
“SIM card locking” is a misnomer - SIM cards don't get locked. Phones get SIM-locked. The phone is locked to a specific carrier's SIM cards.
The default pin is 0000. For help to change it, see the 'basic function' menu in our device guides. If your SIM PIN is entered 3 times incorrectly your device will ask you to enter your PUK (Personal Unlocking Key).

The SIM card on your mobile phone will become locked if you enter an incorrect personal identification number (PIN) three times. You won't be able to use your phone, except for emergency calls. To unlock it you must reset your PIN by entering your SIM card's unique unlock key (also called a PIN unblocking key or PUK).
(Subscriber Identity Module lock) A function in GSM cellphones that restricts the phone's use to a particular cellular carrier identified by a SIM card. SIM locks are used to ensure subscribers finish their service contracts. If the contract period is over, the phone may be unlocked by entering a code from the carrier.
Unlock The Phone On Your Own
First of all, you have to turn off your mobile phone and take out the SIM card. Then turn on the device without the SIM card and wait for it to show a message with the instruction to insert the SIM card. From that moment you will need to write the IMEI code to unlock the phone.
The PIN is an acronym for Personal Identification Number and represents an access code made of four digits. When you buy a SIM card, you also receive a PIN for it. You need this four-digit code to enable the SIM card once you have inserted it into your phone, to be able to access your operator's mobile network.
What is my SIM card PIN? The PIN code for your Three SIM card is printed on the delivery slip that comes with your SIM card. Note that you get three tries to enter the PIN, and your phone will be locked if you fail after these tries. If your phone gets locked, you'll then need to contact 3 to get a PUK code.
You can find out if your iPhone is locked by going to Settings > General > About. If "No SIM restrictions" appears next to Carrier Lock, your iPhone is unlocked.
Check the settings
Look for Carrier Lock. If it says No SIM restrictions, then your iPhone is unlocked. If it says SIM locked or anything else, it is probably locked.
The process can take up to two business days, but once it's done, you're free to take the phone to another wireless carrier.

To open the SIM card slot on most Android phones, place your SIM card ejector tool or pin into the pinhole on your device. With subtle firmness, push into the hole until the SIM card holder is partially ejected. You may need to pull out the rest of the holder manually afterward.
