The thing with Gilgamesh and Thena is that they don't let you know whether their love is romantic or platonic but it doesn't matter. Their love is unconditional and they would do anything for each other, that's all that matters.
Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh loves Thena, and is the one who cares for her over the years to help her remember who she is, and not lose control. He tells Thena the reason he stayed with her was because "it's just what you do when you love someone.
Sometimes we fight each other. And then, especially with Thena [played by Angelina Jolie], Gilgamesh always tries to take care of her. He loves her like a big brother or a father.
She is known for being a fierce warrior and for having amorous relationships with a great multitude of men over the centuries. Thena's most consistent recurring relationship is a forbidden one with the warlord known as Kro, who is a member of the Eternals' arch-enemy race, the Deviants.
In the 2006 Eternals title, Thena began as normal woman married to Thomas Eliot with a son, Joey, and a researcher at Stark Enterprises. Like Sersi and Makkari, she was affected by Sprite's reality warping to have no memory of her past as an Eternal.
Interestingly, Thanos is related by blood to Thena, since she's Zuras' daughter; that means the two characters are actually first cousins. Despite this connection, Thanos has little to do with the Olympian Eternals, and has had limited interaction with them in the comics.
Gilgamesh was the strongest and kindest member of the community of genetically engineered Eternals who came to Earth. He was exiled alongside his de facto partner, Thena due to her suffering Mahd Wy'ry. As a fierce warrior, he was known to be legendary for his fights with the Deviants throughout history.
Upon returning to the Great Temple, Thena was diagnosed with a degenerative disease known as Mahd Wy'ry which affects and causes Eternals to have psychotic episodes at random, due to the weight of their memories.
Although she has lived for over 4,000 years, Thena is still considered a young woman by Eternal standards. At her birth she was named Azura in honor of her father, Zuras.
The Eternals' Thena Is Based on Athena from Greek Mythology
Zuras and Thena resemble Athena and her father, Zeus. This means Thena is often mistaken for Athena, but they are not the same in the comics' world.
For example, Gilgamesh and Enkidu love each other like man and wife, which seems to imply a sexual relationship. They kiss and embrace frequently, and in several scenes they cuddle together against the elements when they are on their quest to the Cedar Forest.
Gilgamesh recognized Enkidu as an equal they ruled the city fairly. Gilgamesh and Enkidu defeated Humbaba, guardian of the forest and beast of the gods, and became the greatest and richest king on Earth. Ishtar, the goddess of fertility, fell in love with Gilgamesh.
But the most important love in the epic is certainly between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. The Epic celebrates this friendship, and how it transforms both men for the better. Only through his friendship with Enkidu does Gilgamesh come to first recognize his own mortality, and finally accept it.
It appears Don Lee's talent agency have confirmed the actor will somehow reprise his role as the late Gilgamesh in Eternals 2—in the comics, the Eternals can be revived after death, recently revealed as having the cost of a single human life in the pages of Kieron Gillen's Eternals comic series.
Accordingly, Gilgamesh was a demigod who was said to have lived an exceptionally long life (the Sumerian King List records his reign as 126 years) and to be possessed of super-human strength.
Onto the difference between the two, both are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Wong appears in the Doctor Strange comics and films, while Gilgamesh is a character from the Eternals. The characters they played may look a tad similar, but both are two distinct characters.
Sprite is a member of the Eternals, a race of people genetically altered from Humans to be superior in all physical traits. Unlike most Eternals, Sprite is also forever young, having the body of a child.
“The First”. Zuras is the eldest of the Eternals, a direct progenitor of the Celestials. He is also the father of Thena, and a warmonger against the Deviants. Humans have attributed him to Greek god, Zeus.
Insider KC Walsh revealed on Twitter that Eternals 2 has now been "added to Marvel Studios' production calendar," indicating that the studio is now set on making a sequel and that it's in its earliest stages of development.
Thena. Thena's name is derived from the Greek goddess of war, Athena. Though in Eternals, Thena insists it's the other way around. Athena was known for her wisdom, her patronage of the city of Athens (which was named for her), and — of course — her skill in the ways of war.
Despite killing his friends, he believed he was doing the right thing until his guilt drove him into the sun at the climax of the film.
8 Gilgamesh Is The Physically Strongest Eternal
Over the years, he's been the group's bruiser, the one who gets picked to smash their foes. Gilgamesh is the Eternals' titan, and was inspired by the human legend of Gilgamesh.
Ikaris Is A Villain - Even When He Wants To Be A Hero
Early on in the Judgment Day event, Ikaris pleaded to the Progenitor Celestial to kill him and his kind for their crimes against humanity - for whenever an Eternal is resurrected, a human's life force must be extinguished in order for the process to be effective.
