Severus Snape, Horace Slughorn, Andromeda Tonks, Narcissa Malfoy and Regulus Black were all Slytherin heroes in their own way, if you think about it. And Merlin – as in, yes, King Arthur's advisor and the most famous wizard in history – was a Slytherin.

Lucius Malfoy is pretty clearly a bad person, but he's a perfect example of how banal cruelty and evilness can be. Lucius likes to control, humiliate, and cause people pain, but he's also too weak and self-absorbed to really become one of the evil "greats," so to speak.

Peter Pettigrew (a.k.a. Wormtail) is the only Death Eater known to have been in a House other than Slytherin (Gryffindor) while at Hogwarts. There, he was a close friend of Sirius Black, James Potter, and Remus Lupin, although he was the least intelligent and least talented of the group.
If there's anything a Slytherin loves, it's a loyal follower, and a Hufflepuff embodies this to a tee. Want a partner you can rely on, especially if things turn dark? Only a Hufflepuff will endeavour to see the good through the bad, no matter what. Lastly, we have Slytherin partnerships with Gryffindors.
Slytherins and Hufflepuffs share a bond that is nothing short of being platonic soulmates. Hufflepuffs are the only ones patient enough to really get to know someone without any judgment. Since Slytherins are often on edge, they truly appreciate the safe space that Hufflepuffs create.

Slytherins are resourceful, clever, and self-aware; like these Myers-Briggs categories, they know who they are and what they want, and they have the work ethic to achieve their desired results.
Because Salazar Slytherin believed that magic should belong only to pure blood wizards. During ancient times, muggles used to hunt down wizards and slay them since they were afraid of wizards. Salazar also believed that muggle-borns are unworthy to possess magic.
As was probably expected, Peter Pettigrew takes first place as the evilest Gryffindor, having betrayed some of his best friends to a mass murderer and framed another one for their murder. Peter is the proof that evil can truly come from any house, and is not limited to those from Slytherin.
Slytherins have a fear of failure since their cunning mentalities encourage them to be perfect at all times. Repeated failures are what people of the house are really afraid of, though, because it opens up the possibility for them to consider that they might be weak in some way.
They are known to achieve great things (even if not always good things). They are the kind of people who make you want to be better just by being around them. They are determined and resourceful. There's not a challenge that a Slytherin can't handle, and for that reason, you want them on your team.
This ambition and drive makes Slytherins pretty single-minded in their pursuits – from Horace Slughorn trying to make friends with the great and good of the wizarding world to Voldemort trying to take it over, they definitely do not give up easily.
Hufflepuff values kindness and hard work, Gryffindor values bravery and boldness, Slytherin values ambition and cunning, and Ravenclaw values wit and wisdom. So it's no big surprise that Ravenclaw house has the reputation of being the smartest house in the world of Harry Potter.
The Head of Slytherin is Horace Slughorn (who left the role to Severus Snape for fifteen years before taking it up again in 1996) and the House's patron ghost is the Bloody Baron.
