Parents need to know that Gifted may revolve around a second-grader, but it deals with serious issues, including suicide and parental abandonment, that make it more appropriate for older tweens and up.
But “Gifted” is on balance a good-hearted entertainment that manages its plot curveballs, and everything else, with a show of compassion that's a kind of tonic for our Increasingly Strident Times.
1. There Is Always Sacrifice: During the film, Mary the math prodigy learns what her truest potential could be if she went to a special school for people like her opposed to a practical school life. Whichever road Mary would want to pursue has its own pros and cons.

Parents need to know that Gifted may revolve around a second-grader, but it deals with serious issues, including suicide and parental abandonment, that make it more appropriate for older tweens and up.
Gifted is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for thematic elements, language and some suggestive material. Violence: Characters discuss and are sorrowful over parents who have disowned their children. Adults and children make vain threats or say hurtful things to one another.
The film ends with Mary back in the custody of Frank, returning to public school and socializing with children her age while taking college-level courses.
Her deceased mother was a math genius, and Mary has clearly inherited her gift for numbers. Enrolling Mary in first grade brings this gift to the attention of her teacher, Bonnie (Jenny Slate, from “Obvious Child”).
The movie Gifted explores all the complicated answers to these questions in a poignant and emotional way.
There is a difference between a child who is smart or bright and one that is gifted. All gifted children can and are considered to be bright, but not all bright children can be considered gifted.
Although there are no standard IQ levels of intellectual giftedness, some experts suggest the following IQ ranges: Mildly gifted: 115 to 129. Moderately gifted: 130 to 144. ighly gifted: 145 to 159.
The romance is so real
The show also teases a relationship between Blink and Thunderbird; while it seems a little silly to point out, I can think of literally no other show that features a romance between a Native American character and an Asian character, and that in itself makes The Gifted feel that much more unique.
The second and final season of the American television series The Gifted is based on Marvel Comics' X-Men properties, and follows ordinary parents who take their family on the run after they discover their children's mutant abilities.
Chris Evans stars in "Gifted," Marc Webb's comedy-drama about a man fighting to maintain custody of his 7-year-old niece.
Imagine that your 7-year-old could multiply 57 X 135 in her head, and tell her elementary school teacher the correct answer was 7,695.
The best part of Gifted, which tells the story of child prodigy who's as good at one-liners as she is at solving equations, is that it's just like Matilda.
Genius can be defined as someone who has exceptional abilities in terms of creativity, intellectual capacities, originality, and even out of the box thinking. Gifted can be defined as extreme ability in terms of creativity, academic knowledge, artistic capacities, etc.
Our favorite scene in Gifted is initiated by Frank after a clash with Mary during which he laments not having a life of his own. Seeing how hurt she is by his statement, he takes her to a hospital maternity ward.
She cries uncontrollably after Frank gives her Diane's work on the Navier-Stokes equation and reveals that Diane wanted it published after Evelyn's death, before her mother could partake in the glory. For all her bravado, Evelyn likely knew that she had enabled her daughter's suicide, and cost her happiness.
Sometime later, Blink is rescued by Selene the Black Queen and then recruited for a fight against Emma Frost, the White Queen. When an explanation is given—according to Selene—Blink did not die. Instead, she was trapped within a realm housed in her portals.
Twist (portrayed by Anjelica Bette Fellini) is a sociopathic mutant with the ability to telekinetically twist and turn things inside out. She was a psychiatric patient before the Inner Circle liberated her in order to utilize her gifts in their overall plans.
ADHD AND GIFTEDNESS are sometimes described as having the same or similar characteristics. However, one diagnosis is considered a disability and one, a gift. Neither assumption is ideal in supporting the child identified with either ADHD, giftedness, or both, often referred to as twice exceptional or 2e.
Giftedness can create problems and conflicts; being a gifted child can also mean difficulty socializing with age peers, thinking styles that don't always mesh well with the demands from the environment, even children who see themselves as little adults, challenging teachers and parents.
In many ways, your gifted child is just like other children who want to do what they want to do when they want to do it. However, gifted children are incredibly determined. They have an advanced vocabulary and can argue their case like an experienced lawyer.
