A youth extra large shirt is wider and shorter proportionally than an adult small shirt. If you are on the fence about whether to order a youth extra large or an adult small, it is probably best to order the adult small shirt.
Understanding the Difference Between Youth XL and Adult Small: While Youth XL and Adult Small shirts may seem similar in size, there are a few differences to consider. Generally, adult shirts are designed for taller individuals, and as a result, they tend to be longer and narrower than youth shirts.
An XL in Hanes casual wear or sweats is equivalent to a boys' size 16/18 and fits boys weighing 100-126 pounds with a 27-28.5 inch waist.
If the ready-made size of the shirt is indicated, XL corresponds to the ready-made size 58 or 60 (slightly wider cut).
Youth Medium size is typically appropriate for children between the ages of 8 and 10. General measurements for this size often fall between 48 and 58 inches in height and 50 to 70 lbs in weight. However, this can vary depending on the brand or style of the clothes.
