Predators of Hyenas include lions, leopards, and crocodiles.
Hyenas are only scared of male lions - YouTube.
Spotted hyenas usually are killed by lions due to battles over prey. Apart from lions, spotted hyenas are also occasionally shot to death by humans hunting game.
Competition between hyenas and lions for resources leads to infanticide—the practice of killing each other's young. Learn why this behavior makes the two species "mortal enemies."
Lions and Other Beasts Fear Hyenas
Not only the lion that is fearful of these much smaller predators. Other smaller animals also fear hyenas. What causes such fear in many animals, including the lions, is that hyenas often fight in packs.
While it may look shocking, it is not unheard of for groups of hyenas to take down lions – most often cubs or older individuals. Often seen as the villians of the African grasslands, hyenas are an intelligent and adaptable species that work together to protect their clans.
A hyena would win a fight against a wild dog. The reason is simple: hyenas are just too much larger and stronger than wild dogs. A hyena and wild dog would smell or see each other coming; there wouldn't be an ambush.
Because lions and hyenas both consume the same prey, they are each others' most common competitors. Lions are three to four times larger than hyenas and kill larger animals. A group of hyenas, however, can often use teamwork to intimidate a lion away from its kill.
Hyenas are much smaller and don't have much in the way of armed attacks against elephants, so it's easy to assume there's no way these animals could attack, much less kill an elephant. But what they lack in size and killing power against large prey, they make up for in wits.
“It is inherently risky for a cheetah, especially one with cubs, to interact with larger predators such as spotted hyenas, as spotted hyenas are known to kill both cheetah cubs and adults,” they say in their paper.
Acceptable prey of a crocodile is anything that moves near the waters edge. So that means wilderbeassts, zebras, antelope, humans, lions and, yes, Hyenas.
It's important to note: Tardigrades are basically indestructible only when they enter a special state called cryptobiosis. In harsh environments, the animals tuck in their legs and expel all moisture from their bodies.
Who Would Win in a Fight Between a Leopard and a Hyena? Leopards hunt prey individually, which would prove critical in this fight. A leopard would win a fight against a hyena. The big cat is too skilled and deadly for the hyena to beat in a fight.
A hyena would win a fight against a wolf. The hyena is faster, heavier, and stronger than the wolf, and those are the only two appreciable differences between these creatures. They're both similar in stature and speed, but the fight would be determined by which creature can deal fatal damage.
Lions have few predators to fear other than humans. A very young or sickly lion might fall prey to hyenas. Cubs may be attacked and eaten by adult male lions. Lions are most threatened by humans who hunt them and encroach on their habitat. Lions do not selectively hunt humans and do not often attack humans.
Hyenas may be on somewhat equal footing with cheetahs, but unless they vastly outnumber lions, the so-called king of the jungle will easily kill them.
At night, lions also frequently attack hyena cubs at the communal den in an attempt to kill them. Hyenas killed by lions often have their spine broken and/or skull perforated. Hyenas therefore are careful during encounters with adult lions for good reason.
Who would win the fight between a pitbull and a hyena? Hyena without a doubt. The Hyena has one of the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom, it can crush bone with ease. Hyenas are also pretty damn big, much larger than any breed of domestic dog, except maybe one or two huge ones.
Hyenas have a bite force that would put a pit bull to shame. They are fast and agile and know how to kill larger animals so a mastiff or any other giant breed dog would be out matched.
Gorillas are strong and powerful animals. They are known to be able to fight off lions and other large predators.
Tigers and striped hyenas can live in the same geographic range. If it would come to a fight, the tiger would almost always come out victorious. Tigers are two to three times bigger than hyenas and a lot heavier. They are faster too, and very powerful.
Key Points. Elephants and rhinos are the animals most likely to kill lions. The humble porcupine is a threat to mighty lions. A crocodile is an animal that will attempt to prey on lions.
