What causes anger issues? Many things can trigger anger, including stress, family problems, and financial issues. For some people, anger is caused by an underlying disorder, such as alcoholism or depression. Anger itself isn't considered a disorder, but anger is a known symptom of several mental health conditions.
There are three types of anger which help shape how we react in a situation that makes us angry. These are: Passive Aggression, Open Aggression, and Assertive Anger.
The verbal expressions include yelling, arguing, cursing, and sarcasm. However, anger can also be expressed physically by raising a clenched fist, throwing a book on the floor, breaking a pencil or hitting a wall. Sometimes, anger is not expressed externally but remains as internal rumination.
But, it may be surprising to learn that there are 5 styles – Aggressive, Passive, Passive-Aggressive, Assertive, and Projective-Aggressive styles. A person using the Aggressive style of anger often feels the need to be in control of themselves, other people, and situations.

Enraged. This is the stage when you feel completely out of control. You may exhibit destructive behavior when your anger reaches this point, such lashing out physically, excessive swearing, or threatening violence.

Anger starts with the amygdala stimulating the hypothalamus, much like in the fear response. In addition, parts of the prefrontal cortex may also play a role in anger. People with damage to this area often have trouble controlling their emotions, especially anger and aggression.

Long-term strategies for anger management include regular exercise, learning relaxation techniques and counselling.
Anger in teens is caused in part by biology. Teenagers' brains are still developing and their bodies are flooded with hormones that impact mood. Anger in teens can also signal deeper issues. Irritability, mood swings, or outbursts may be symptoms of disorders like anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Some Teen Anger Is Normal
During adolescence, a measure of increased moodiness is normal. Hormones flare during puberty and adolescence, so teens react to triggers and process emotions in different ways than during their early years.
One common trigger is frustration when a child cannot get what he or she wants or is asked to do something that he or she might not feel like doing. For children, anger issues often accompany other mental health conditions, including ADHD, autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and Tourette's syndrome.
Most 13-year-old teens are dealing with the emotional and physical changes that accompany puberty, so it's normal for your teen to feel uncertain, moody, sensitive, and self-conscious at times. During this time, it becomes more important than ever to fit in with peers.
