Developmental Metatarsus adductus:
This is due to the tightness of a muscle within the foot called the abductor hallucis. This tightness pulls the big toe and foot into a banana position. This is the most common type of metatarsus adductus and often resolves on its own.
Metatarsus adductus refers to a condition where the metatarsal bones are turned toward the middle of the body. This causes a visible deformity, and both feet are often affected.
If you have a hammertoe, the toe sticks up. When you put on your shoes, your toes are constantly rubbing on the upper piece of your shoe. This causes pain. You may also start to feel pain underneath the toe that is sticking up.
Curled, clenched toes or a painful cramped foot are telltale signs of dystonia. Dystonia is a sustained or repetitive muscle twisting, spasm or cramp that can occur at different times of day and in different stages of Parkinson's disease (PD).
The root cause of curling toes that won't unfurl—whether they be hammertoes, mallet toes, or claw toes—is a muscle imbalance in your digits. When the muscle responsible for straightening your toes becomes too weak to work against its partner, the digit becomes “stuck,” first flexibly, but eventually rigidly.
Older toes have a propensity toward curling into "claw toes" because of muscle imbalance. And older people — especially older women — are prone to developing bunions, a misalignment of the bones in the big toe that causes the end of the metatarsal bone at the base of the toe to angle out.
Wearing pads, arch supports or other shoe inserts to cushion the toe. Strengthening and stretching toe muscles through exercises. A splint or tape to hold your toes where they're supposed to be. Avoid high heels.
Banana Foot
Just like bananas are a great source of food intake, they're also a great metaphor for the type of feet that most dancers can only aspire to achieve. A perfect foot is sometimes known as “banana feet”. This means the curved arch and the instep somewhat represent the shape of a banana.
yellowing of lower or older leaves, caused by the fungus blocking the water conducting tissue within the banana plant stem. lower leaves collapsing to form a 'skirt' around the plant. cut open, the stem is discoloured from yellow to red, through to dark brown or black, depending on how long the plant has been infected.
If your toenails are yellowish or have ridges or pits, it could indicate an underlying health condition such as a fungal infection or psoriasis. Nail beds with discoloration can be an indicator of a few different health conditions, depending on the specific pattern and distribution of the color: Terry's nails.
Prehensile feet are lower limbs that possess prehensility, the ability to grasp like a hand. They are most commonly observed in monkeys, some of which also possess prehensile tails, and apes. The term prehensile means "able to grasp" (from the Latin prehendere, to take hold of, to grasp).
Generally, sandals are not recommended for Hallux Rigidus as they lack the support of a trainer, resulting in an overload of the big toe joint. However, Birkenstocks are a highly recommended brand that offers insole support and supportive strapping that can reduce the pressure on the big toe.
Toes are meant to lay flat against the ground and stay flexible enough to wiggle and spread freely. This allows them to help you balance and push off the ground when you step. Problems like claw toe, which stiffen and curl your digits, can make it uncomfortable and difficult to wear shoes and walk normally.
If you're toes appear crooked, have knuckles that budge enough to form corns, or a toe that doesn't rest flat on the ground, you may have hammertoe. Fortunately, it's a reversible condition. Treatment can be as simple as moving into roomier, flat bottomed, shoes that are square at the toe rather than pointed.
Toes can curl gradually over time due to faulty mechanics, pressure from poorly-fitting shoes, diabetes, or injury. That's when you've got a toe deformity that may need a doctor's care.
For most people, the answer is no, you don't. They are very helpful to those with bunions to help realign feet damaged by shoes and/or gait, but if your toes are straight already then you will get a lesser degree of benefit.
Bunion correctors and guards do have a place in the treatment of bunions, but it may not be what you think. Unfortunately, there is no medical research or data to support the claim that bunion correctors straighten the big toe. If your bunions are pretty severe, no plastic or elastic device is going to correct them.
Motor neuropathy which is muscle weakness in your feet, which can change your foot shape, for instance lead to curled toes or a high arch. This may result in hard skin (callus) and ulcers on pressure points.
Curled toes
People often curl their toes under when stressed. Like tensing your shoulders or neck, curled toes are a dead giveaway that you're under pressure or feeling anxious. The fix: Dr. Kerr says that these tight postures can be your body's coping mechanism against stress.
The term hammertoe is almost synonymous with claw toes. The main difference between these two conditions is the position of the MTP joint (in hammertoes this joint is not displaced). However, it is very difficult to clinically differentiate between the two, so they are often used interchangeably.
