The Russian government prohibits certain types of work. Anyone under the age of 18 cannot work night shifts or do dangerous work or work which may be “harmful to their moral development.” Children have special protections with regard to time off.

There is no minimum age for children working in a family business. Despite popular opinion, 14 years and 9 months is not the minimum age of employment – to be employed without a permit, a child must be 15 years.
From the age of 13, you can work part-time in a restaurant, shop, delivering newspapers and advertising material and trolley collection. You can only work between the hours of 6am and 10pm but the work must not take place during the hours you are required to attend school.
Generally, children need to be at least 15 years of age old to be employed in part-time, casual or holiday jobs. There are some exceptions when younger children can be employed, however certain conditions need to be met.
