1. If we consider only the Pleasure and Comfort of it to a Man in this Life, to be of a merciful and bountiful Eye, it is to him an unspeakable Gift. He is satisfied in Himself, God answers him in the Joy of his Heart. The greatest Pleasure of Life is to be good and do good.
“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”— 2 Corinthians ix. 15.
The process of God's redemption for humanity and the world began with Jesus' death and resurrection, and God's kingdom will fully come when Jesus returns. We respond to this indescribable gift by accepting salvation through Jesus Christ, repentance of our sins, and giving our hearts to the Lord.
God's Indescribable Gift
At the end of chapter 9, Paul declared: “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15). The gift in this verse refers to salvation (Ephesians 2:8). We have done nothing to deserve this gift since God gives us salvation based on His unmerited favor.
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. While some Christans accept these as a definitive list of specific attributes, others understand them merely as examples of the Holy Spirit's work through the faithful.
These abilities, often termed "charismatic gifts", are the word of knowledge, increased faith, the gifts of healing, the gift of miracles, prophecy, the discernment of spirits, kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues.
The name YHWH, consisting of the sequence of consonants Yod, Heh, Waw, and Heh, is known as the tetragrammaton.
The gift involves unspeakable sacrifice; and Paul expresses that in Romans how God spared not His own son, but delivered Him up for us all. God's true sacrifice exemplifies that He gave His best for the worse.
The Lord Jesus Christ is our most precious of all gifts from God. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
2 Corinthians 9:15 KJV
Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
According to the Scriptures, these gifts include such ministries as faith, healing, prophecy, proclamation, teaching, administration, reconciliation, compassion, and self-sacrificing service and charity for the help and encouragement of people.
The Free Gift of God is Eternal Life through Christ Jesus
It is what God did by Jesus dying on the cross and being raised to life afterward. This is the free gift of God. All we do is to accept the free gift. When we believe in Jesus, everything else is thrown into the gift.
We all have gifts. They differ according to the grace God has given to each of us.
“The free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23; “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8; “Let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.” Revelations 22:17.
[8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: [9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
The gift of God is also indescribable because of the grace by which it is given. Most of our gifts have nothing to do with grace. We give because the recipients of our gifts have some claim upon us: they are members of our family, people who have helped us in some way, or individuals who gave to us last year.
informal + disapproving. used to describe the attitude of people who think that they are very talented, attractive, etc. He thinks he's God's gift to the world.
Unspeakable here specifically means “that which cannot be not expounded in full”, and surely that is true of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Unspeakable is the Good done in the World by a right charitable Frame of Spirit. Unspeakable are the Needs which Sin has brought upon us, not only on the poor and low of the World, but also on others, even on the richest and highest.
Yahweh. The scholarly consensus is that the original pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton was Yahweh ( יַהְוֶה): "The strong consensus of biblical scholarship is that the original pronunciation of the name YHWH ... was Yahweh."
Wisdom. Wisdom is considered the first and the greatest of the gifts. It acts upon both the intellect and the will. According to St. Bernard, it both illumines the mind and instills an attraction to the divine.
