The only real repayment is found in our continuing to come back to him again and again with our needs. When we do so, we rejoice in his goodness and honor him as God. He is glorified and his name is lifted up as we continue to call out him in prayer for even more of his goodness in continuing to answer our prayers.
And in my dismay I said, "All men are liars." How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
“What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? I will take up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people” (Psalm 116:12-14 NKJV). Psalm 116 is generally termed “A Psalm of Thanksgiving for Deliverance”.
Living for Christ and allowing that love to flow to the world is ultimately what God would have us give back to Him. The same grace that was given to us is freely available to the rest of the world, and the greatest gift we can give the Father is to live a life that draws others to His love.
Giving our tithes and offerings reflects a grateful heart that wants to give back to God a portion of what He has given us; in reality, what is already His. This is our opportunity to show God that He is first in our lives.
2 Corinthians 9:10-15
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.
In church, the answer we usually hear to the first part is that every Christian should tithe—give a tenth of his or her income. Advocates of tithing point out spiritual benefits that they believe it brings, and they cite scriptures in which they believe God commands us to tithe.
He seeks to mold us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:28-29). If you want to have favor with God, be fully committed to His beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Worship and revere Him, identify with His pain, gain a heart like His, and display His characteristics in your life.
Pray: Our Heavenly Father, we ask for Your blessing upon us; we thank You that we have this great power, this wonderful wisdom, this deep insight, this flow of abundance surging through our lives, blessing us in every way and, through us, helping and serving mankind. Through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
The oft-repeated verse, “Which is it, of the Favours of your Lord, that ye deny?”, serves to remind us of our lack of gratitude towards Allah. He has showered upon us an abundance of Blessings. Allah is Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful. He has given us this life, our loved ones, as well as many other comforts.
Our top reasons to be thankful should always, always, always be about who God IS and what He has already DONE for us: His character, goodness, mercy, creativity, sovereignty, power, and so forth. No matter what else occurs in your life, don't forget to thank God for who He is and what He's done for you!
Seriously though, prayer is the simplest and surest way to convey appreciation to God. Sincere simple prayer, given from the heart and expressing your thanks for the wonderful life you've been given, will touch God deeply.
So, instead of abandoning us or retaliating against us, he offers us a gift, the best gift that has ever been given: his Son, crucified and raised to life again. And he promises he will reign over us in an eternal kingdom that is far better than any of us could ever ask for or imagine.
But have you ever stopped to consider the greatest gift ever given? It is a gift that is not even humanly possible to be given. It is the gift of Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes on Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
When we give, we will have all we need. And God will generously provide all you need. When we prioritize the things that are important to God, he takes care of the rest. God always makes sure we have enough to live on when we give to further his kingdom.
He restores us to a right relationship with him through the gift of forgiveness and justification. He is able to restore earthly relationships. And he can even restore days and years that have been lost to the effects of sin (Joel 2:25).
“In you, my God, my body will rest in hope.” I surrender to God's tender care for my body, my mind, my soul, and my whole life by relinquishing worry over things I cannot control. “Because with the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption, Israel indeed he will redeem from all its iniquity.”
In the Bible, we see many examples of surrender. For instance, Esther surrendered her life to intercede for her people, saying with great courage, “If I perish, I perish.” The prophet Isaiah went naked and barefoot for three years at God's command – that was some serious surrender!
