Christmas elves are usually depicted as green- or red-clad, with large, pointy ears and wearing pointy hats.
They're Santa's most trusted helpers who help him in homes around the world and back at the North Pole. Each elf wears a red-and-white suit, a pointy hat and a white collar—that's how you know they're an official Scout Elf!
It seems reasonable to infer that the Elves probably wore a variety of clothing styles, but most often they would have worn shirts or tunics paired with breeches, covered by long coats or robes, especially for protection while traveling outdoors. They most often wore shoes but may have had occasional need for boots.
Tunic. The tunic is the uniform of the elves, depicted as short or long sleeved (depending if their tasks are outdoor or indoor) is again either green or a mixture of green and red. Of all of the elves' clothing, this is most pragmatic, basically a medieval style t-shirt.
Red/black themed clothings denote those who specialize in “heat” magic/attributes. Those in gold/white specialize in “light” magic/attributes. For the Moonshadow elves, the teal/black ones could deal more with illusion magic and those with purple/black would be more about life/death/spirits magic.
Red is the Elf's favorite color!
Most high elves prefer clothing of natural colors such as green, but others wear garments of garish hues, particularly during holidays or festivals. Most high elves train themselves in the use of a longsword, a weapon important to their culture, religion, and heritage.
Elves' coloration encompasses the normal human range and also includes skin in shades of copper, bronze, and almost bluish-white, hair of green or blue, and eyes like pools of liquid gold or silver.
The Light Elves are luminous beings that wear white robes, and the Dark Elves are winged beings with insectoid traits and are typically seen wearing martial clothes.
Arwen. Daughter of Elrond and granddaughter of Galadriel, Arwen was called the “Evenstar” and was accounted as the most beautiful of the final generation of elves. She was a descendant of Lúthien and often compared to her for her beauty and for her relationship with Aragorn.
When Oromë invited the Elves to Valinor, those who followed him on the Great Journey were called the Eldar, :374 while those who refused were called the Avari. The Eldar were divided into three clans−the Vanyar, the Noldor, and the Teleri.
Moon elves prefer to dress in rustic clothes of simple cuts and fashions that are nevertheless of fine and exquisite make. They adorn their dress with embroidered patterns, beads, and similar trappings, preferring earthen colors for everyday wear, hues that make it easy to conceal themselves in foliage.
An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old. What this says to me is that if you want an elf that looks like a 20 year old human and acts like a 20 year old human, you play a 20 year old elf.
Santa advises that no family member touch their Elf on the Shelf, but he does describe a few rare instances when an adult may use tongs or potholders to help an elf in an urgent situation.
Christmas elves are usually depicted as green- or red-clad, with large, pointy ears and wearing pointy hats. They are most often depicted as humanoids, but sometimes as furry mammals with tails. Santa's elves are often said to make the toys in Santa's workshop and take care of his reindeer, among other tasks.
Their skin tends to be brown and they have similar colored hair which lightens with age. In 4th edition, wild elves are simply called elves, distinguishing them from the eladrin. Wood elves are a reclusive subrace, preferring to live in such areas as the High Forest. They place more emphasis on strength than learning.
Ultimately, you can find plenty of quotes that describe elves as being "pale", "fair of skin" or "white". There are no quotes that describe them having brown or dark skin tones (although you can find some describing their hair as "dark" or "black", and also of "dark elves", as opposed to Caladquendi).
When Tolkien describes Elven eyes, they tend to be grey.
The dark elves' most distinguishing feature is their purple skin, which is usually of a very dark, almost black hue.
Night elves have skin colored subtle shades of purple ranging from dark to light, and from almost blue to bright pink. Their hair ranges from blue, green, dark violet, white or black (though black is not an option to players, numerous E3 posters picture night elves as dark haired).
Sun elves had bronze-colored skin and hair most often of copper, golden blond, and black, with red more uncommon but not unheard of. Sun elves typically had green eyes, though golden ones were also common, often with a liquid appearance, and silver, black, hazel, or copper hues had also been heard of.
Such elves are almost unfailingly marked with the white or silver hair of the drow parent, and more often than not have dusky gray skin that takes on a purplish or bluish tinge in the right light, while their eye color usually favors that of the human parent.
House-elves are so intensely loyal to their masters that they will not allow themselves to be set free unless their master presents them with clothes. To symbolise this, they usually wear makeshift clothes made with found objects such as pillowcases and rags.
