Meanwhile, in Julia Quinn's "The Duke and I," the first book that inspired the Netflix series, Simon and Daphne's first child is a girl they name Amelia. They then have two more daughters, Belinda and Caroline, before welcoming two sons, David and Edward.
During season two, Daphne casually reveals baby Basset's first name — Augie — which proves they stuck with Simon's request to follow the Bridgerton family tradition of alphabetizing kids' names. Perhaps Augie is a nickname for a longer Regency-era-worthy name like Augustus or Augustin?
With the birth of David, the couple's first son, Simon is challenged to separate who he is as a father from who his own father was, and realizes that he will love his son as much as he loves his three daughters. Ahead, get a peak at little baby Hastings, before watching the "Bridgerton" season two premiere on March 25.

The duke also jokes, after the birth of their first child in the season's final (and very affecting) scene, that he “believes” the child's name “must begin with the letter A,” as a nod to the first names of the eight Bridgerton children following alphabetic symmetry.

Due to filming conflicts, actor Ruby had to leave the Bridgerton set to film supernatural thriller series Lockwood & Co, a Netflix adaptation of the YA book series. In it, she plays the lead Lucy Carlyle, which is why it makes sense that she had to prioritise it. The series is due to launch later this year.
Eloise does not become pregnant in Quinn's second book, but she does become a stepmum in the fifth book titled To Sir Phillip, With Love, where she is considered a “spinster” because she is unmarried at the age of 28.
Much like her mother, Daphne follows family tradition and names her five children in alphabetical order. Starting with the couple's first child Amelia, the Hastings give birth to two more daughters, Belinda and Caroline, and then two sons, David and Edward.
And clever mother that she was, she made it a little easier by using the alphabet in the process: Her eldest child's name begins with "A" (Anthony), her second child's with "B" (Benedict), and so on. This also makes it easier to figure out the age order when watching Bridgerton!
Page's Duke of Hastings, who married Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) in the first season, would have been a background player at best in the second. Page opted to pursue his burgeoning movie career and (minor spoiler alert) does not appear at all in season 2, which debuts March 25.
