Yoda : Careful you must be when sensing the future Anakin. The fear of loss is a path to the dark side. Anakin Skywalker : I won't let these visions come true, Master Yoda. Yoda : Death is a natural part of life.
Beyond these inner demons, of course, Anakin was also feeling the "great weight" on him "due to the prophecy." Even so, with respect to the Jedi High Council—despite these complicating factors that clouded a clear vision of Anakin's future, or perhaps because of them—many of its members were still dubious that Anakin ...
“Much fear I sense in you, young Skywalker.” Later on, he knew that Anakin was in pain after the death of his mother, and that he was on the path to the dark side, as “fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.”
Yoda didn't want Anakin trained. He considered him to be dangerous, full of fear which could potentially be catastrophic. As it was. The Council refused for Anakin to be trained but the situation has changed after Qui-Gon died.
Yoda didn't specifically know how this would go down, or to what degree Anakin would cause it to happen, but he was playing a much longer game by Revenge of the Sith, and that's at least, in part, explained by Yoda's Force connection with Qui-Gon's spirit.
During Palpatine's reign as Emperor, his apprentice's true identity was kept a secret, leaving only a few Star Wars characters aware Anakin was Darth Vader. Besides Obi-Wan, Master Yoda also knew the truth, as well as Ahsoka Tano, R2-D2 and C-3Po, and even Senator Bail Organa.
The maverick Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn comes before the Jedi High Council, which Windu is a member of, and offers to train Anakin Skywalker, believing that the boy is the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy. Windu and the other Council members decline, deeming Anakin too old and full of fear.
Yoda was reluctant to train Anakin in Episode II because he said Anakin was too old to start training (even though Anakin was still a boy). However, in Episode V, Yoda didn't seem very reluctant to train Luke despite the fact that Luke was a full grown man by that time.
His judgment clouded, Yoda did not prevent the future Darth Vader from being trained. But he certainly did not approve. He had seen what emotional attachment could do to a Jedi. He had lost his own apprentice to its consequences.
Yoda would have been an excellent role model for Anakin in his time of vulnerability. Yoda even displayed a healthy reactino to strong emotions like anger. He counseled the Scalvi youth not to let violence get the better of them -- lessons Ani desperately needed as he lost his faith in the Jedi's principles.
Anakin would have likely been killed by the clone troopers, along with the other Jedi. However, perhaps he would have escaped. He would have taken the pregnant Padme with him. He would have needed to get as far away from the eventual Empire as possible, so perhaps they would have gone with Yoda to Dagobah?
So, which competitor claimed the top spot for the most powerful Jedi of all time? Drumroll please... Move aside, Anakin Skywalker. Master Yoda has risen above all others to claim the top spot as the most powerful Jedi of all time and the true chosen one according to IGN's audience.
Yoda had grave misgivings about the potential student brought before him by maverick Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker was indeed strong in the Force, but he was too old to begin training. Already, Skywalker had a deep emotional attachment to his mother, and was filled with fear of losing her.
They pulled this kid out of slavery, away from his mother and everyone he knew, and dropped him in an unfamiliar setting on a completely different planet. He was a kid. The Jedi, with the exception of Obi Wan (and Qui Gon before he died), openly distrusted and even disliked Anakin.
1 Yoda Failed To Realize Palpatine Was A Sith Lord
Although this was probably in part because of Palpatine's own power in the Force, disguising himself, there were still so many signs - notably the fact Palpatine displayed Sith relics in his office.
He wasn't even eligible. In order to be granted the rank of master, a Jedi Knight must first train their own. Padawan to knighthood. When their Padawan became a Knight, they would then be able to attain the rank.
At one point, he certainly regretted training Anakin, not saving Qui-Gon's, not training Anakin right, Padmé's death, killing Anakin, not killing Anakin, etc. And what makes all this suffering and regret worse is the fact he never realized the truth.
One of the biggest factors that prevented Anakin from becoming a Jedi Master was the distrust stemming from his superiors, particularly Mace Windu.
Giving in to his feelings, Anakin cuts off Mace Windu's hand, giving Palpatine the opportunity to kill him. Anakin regrets this almost instantly, but the thought of Padme was stronger than his remorse This is the moment Anakin officially became Darth Vader and led to serious issues in the Skywalker Saga.
He had a softish spot for a handful of individuals and unlike many other Sith, Vader didn't generally kill innocent people for no reason - but he always hated the Jedi and he had no regrets about what happened to them. The best proof of this is how he throws himself into becoming the Empire's primary Jedi hunter.
ANAKIN: I won't let this one become real, Padmé. This marks the beginning of Anakin's obsessive fear about losing Padmé. He's not being entirely unreasonable, though; the last time he had these terrible dreams was when his mother was being tortured by the Sand People, and he got there too late to rescue her.
R2-D2 was present when Padmé gave birth to Leia and Luke, so he knew Luke was Anakin's son – but what he didn't know was that Anakin became Darth Vader. In addition to that, Anakin's fall was surely a painful event in R2-D2's life, one that he definitely wouldn't like to remember or even talk about.
In the material around the film from the Legends timeline, it's established that by the end of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Kenobi was one of the characters who knew Anakin's Sith name was Darth Vader. However, what he didn't know was that he was still alive after Mustafar.
Padmé was well aware that Anakin had committed dark crimes that would've started his fall to the dark side. He even confessed to her that he had massacred an entire Tusken Raider village to avenge his mother, leaving no one alive.
