R 18+ material is restricted to adults as it contains content that is considered high in impact for viewers. This includes content that may be offensive to sections of the adult community.
Films rated 18 are for adults. No-one under 18 is allowed to see an 18 film at the cinema or buy / rent an 18 rated video. No 18 rated works are suitable for children.
Explanation. An “R-18” classification advises viewers, parents, and supervising adults that the film may contain any of the following: themes, language, violence, nudity, sex, horror, and drugs that may not be suitable for children below eighteen (18) years of age.
Content suitable only for adults ages 18 and up. May include prolonged scenes of intense violence, graphic sexual content and/or gambling with real currency.
Rated R: Restricted – Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Rated NC-17: Adults Only – No one 17 and under admitted.
The R rating means that children under 17 years are not admitted to the theater without a parent.
Cinemas are required to abide by the MA 15+ and R 18+ restrictions. This means refusing entry to an MA 15+ film to any person who reasonably appears to be under 15 and who is not accompanied by his or her parent or a guardian. Entry to an R 18+ film can be refused to any person who reasonably appears to be under 18.
In 1970, a four-tier rating system was introduced when the Australian Classification Board came into existence: G: For General Exhibition. NRC: Not Recommended for Children Under 12. M: For Mature Audiences. R: Restricted Exhibition.
TV-Ma and R rated are the same. They are both very extreme in their amounts of violence, cussing, or sexual content. The difference being TV-Ma is for TV shows and R rated is for Movies. R rated and TV-MA are both recommended for 18+ unless you have Parental Guidance (I know that for TV shows they don't control that).
M: "Content classified M is not suitable for children. Parental guidance may be required for young people." MA 15+: "Content classified MA 15+ is legally restricted to people aged 15 years and over.
Although still unrestricted as it is an advisory category, material classified M cannot be recommended for viewing or playing by children under 15 years of age. M rated content is described as moderate or neutral.
M is given to films and games that can be shown to anyone but are more suitable for mature audiences. This is most often done under the cross-rating system.
G: General Audiences, All Ages Admitted.
Contains nothing in theme, language, nudity, sex, violence or other matters that the in-view of the Rating Board would offend parents whose younger children view the motion picture.
No one younger than 18 may see an 18 film in a cinema.
It is not illegal for you to watch the film, IT IS ILLEGAL for the cinema to let you watch it. The same goes with you buying an X-rated DVD, you don't commit the crime, the shop selling you the DVD is the one who commits the crime. If you mean “Can I watch it at home or at a friends house?” then the answer is yes.
An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the board, contains some adult material. The film may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously.
Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children.
Restricted: R - Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.
AMC Requires Adult Supervision For Guests Under 17 in R-Rated Movies. AMC policies specific to R-Rated titles include children under 6 are not allowed at R-Rated movies after 6pm at any theatre. Guests under 17 must be accompanied by a guardian who is 21 or older.

Vacuum insulated panels have the highest R-value, approximately R-45 (in U.S. units) per inch; aerogel has the next highest R-value (about R-10 to R-30 per inch), followed by polyurethane (PUR) and phenolic foam insulations with R-7 per inch.
