Overthinking is actually a special form of fear. This fear is exaggerated and becomes worse when mixed with anticipation, anxiety, imagination and emotion. Learn to accept things as they are. Ask the Almighty to constantly guide you.
Stop overthinking. You are stressing yourself too much & instead you should trust Allah. Where is your trust in Allah? He loves you, He won't let you down."
One of the best ways to stop overthinking is to remind yourself of your ultimate goal before the stress gets to you. That ultimate goal is paving your way to Jannah. So, use the five daily prayers as a timeout where you distance yourself from the shortcomings of life and become more hereafter-oriented.
Allah has said very clearly in the Quran that the only way to fight anxiety is to have the remembrance of Allah and have faith in Him, worship Him and stay close to Him.
The bible does not state what causes anxiety, because God considers anxiety to be a crisis of faith. The belief here is that anxiety shows that the person has not yet been able to put full trust in God, because fear itself is something that is meant to be relinquished as every person is meant to be part of God's plan.
Quran Acknowledges the Reality of Depression
Many times the Quran reminds one that there is no grief or fear if one remains steadfast and that the Hereafter is free of all those negative and overwhelming feelings and situations (Quran 43:68, 46:13).
Surah Ad-Duha was revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ) to provide relief and hope. It was a way to reassure the Prophet (ﷺ) that Allah had not abandoned him. Through this Surah, we too can find relief from anxiety and sorrow.
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to invoke Allah at the time of distress, saying, "La ilaha illal- lahu Al-`Azim, al- Halim, La ilaha illal-lahu Rabbu-s-samawati wal-ard wa Rabbu- l-arsh il-azim."
It's so important to remember that God knows every thought and instinct of our hearts! He alone can judge our intentions, and He alone can righteously convict or soothe our souls when we're overthinking. “Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth” (NLT).
Our voluntary thoughts are nothing more than inward statements. Hence, the rule is that we should only engage good thoughts or keep our minds silent. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak goodness or remain silent.
May trigger mental illness
Dwelling on your mistakes, problems and shortcomings increases your chances of being affected by mental health problems. Overthinking can set you up for a vicious cycle that is hard to break. It wreaks havoc on your mental peace and as you lose your peace of mind, you tend to overthink.
Allah says: 'Use patience and prayer in your hardships and overcome them'. Dr. Thomas Hayslop (physician) says: 'The most important tool for calming the nerves and emotions known to me is prayer'. Servitude is what gives meaning to life of men which is best shown in prayer.
Overthinking is caused due to various reasons like fear, intolerance to uncertainty, trauma, or perfectionism. Overthinking can also be a symptom of already existing mental health conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, or depression.
Surah Duha, Surah 93, ma sha Allah. Allah subhana wa ta'ala revealed it at a time when our Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was depressed, to soothe him. For the man who suffered the most in this world, it was something very soothing.
Surah Ad-Duha and al-Inshirah are good for peace of mind.
Although reading any chapter (surah) of the Quran might make you feel better and more at peace, Surah Ad-Duha and al-Inshirah have shown to be two of the most potent Surahs for doing so.
The number one solution that Islam offers for anxiety, stress and worry, which are all interconnected, is to connect to Allah and change your fear inducing thoughts. Connecting to Allah eradicates the feeling that you can't handle something. It puts your reliance for a solution on Allah and not yourself.

The Quran and the Prophet Muhammad clearly tell us that weeping is a virtuous act when receiving knowledge. It is a sign of humility that you are able to shed a tear in the face of a spiritual truth.
Muslims with mental illness may interpret mental health symptoms as a curse or punishment from God and may regard seeking psychiatric services as showing spiritual weakness 1. However, Islam puts great emphasis on the preservation of intellect, and clearly demarcates between competency and incompetency.
Islam values the importance of good mental health and emotional wellbeing. The Qur'an can be used as a guide to those suffering from emotional distress and aims to lead people to a meaningful quality of life. 'There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment' (Hadith).
