When it doesn't say Delivered, it means the other person is texting someone else or on the phone. Once they stop texting or hang up the phone, you will see the text message has been delivered.
“The last message that you know was received and responded to…should have a 'delivered' status,” Lavelle explains. If, under the messages you've sent after that, you don't see that “delivered” notification, that could mean that person has blocked you.
If an iMessage doesn't say Delivered, the recipient might have simply turned their phone off. Your message will arrive when they turn on their device again.
Some of the most common delivery failures happen because the number is invalid, the recipient opted out of messages, there were network problems with the recipient's carrier, or your message contained content that carriers frequently block.
If you send a message as a regular SMS in the green text bubble and you do not get a “Delivered” notification but instead get a notification similar to “Message not Delivered” or no message at all, that means you were probably blocked.
A green bubble could also indicate that someone blocked you, especially when the bubbles have always been blue. When blocking occurs, iMessage sends your text, but the recipient never receives it. Your old messages remain blue, but the latest texts you send after they've blocked you turn green.
If the iMessage never shows a “Delivered” or “Read” message, and it's still blue, then you may have been blocked – but not always. If the iMessage goes through and shows a “Read” receipt, then you have definitely not been blocked.
Check the Bubble Color
If you don't see a blue bubble on your end, then it's likely that they've blocked you on iMessage. It's important to note that this doesn't mean they have blocked your number altogether; it just means they have blocked you from sending them messages over iMessage.
An iMessage Not Delivered error doesn't mean someone blocked your number. This is a common myth, and the iMessage "Not Delivered" error just means your text didn't reach the other person! If you're seeing the iMessage Not Delivered error, try enabling SMS texts on your iPhone.
When someone that you've blocked texts you, their texts go nowhere. They won't receive any notification that they're blocked, and their messages will still look like they've been sent. But you won't receive any of them, and you can't respond.
When you send them an SMS and you get the "Delivered" notification underneath it, you weren't blocked. If you get a notification like "Message Not Delivered" or you get no notification at all, that's a sign of a potential block.
Call your contact back with a masked number.
If the call goes through like usual--e.g., five or more rings--then your contact has blocked your number. If the call still stops after a ring or less and diverts to voicemail, your contact's phone is dead.
If you call someone that hasn't blocked your number, you typically hear several rings before it goes to voicemail. When you call a number that has blocked yours, you may hear one or half a ring or no rings at all and then the call will go to voicemail.
For Android, go to Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings > Caller ID. Then, select Hide Number. Your calls will remain anonymous and you can bypass the blocked list.
It's a normal call when you call a person and hear the usual number of rings before getting voicemail. But if the person has blocked you, here's the big indicator. You only hear a single ring before being diverted to voicemail.
If you have an iPhone and try to send an iMessage to someone who has blocked you, it will remain blue (which means it's still an iMessage). However, the person you've been blocked by will never receive that message.
If you've been blocked, the recipient will not receive a notification and won't be able to respond. If you don't receive a returned call or text message within a few days, there's a good chance you may be blocked.
Does the Other Person Know That You Blocked Them. Not really. Firstly, because they will hear pre-recorded messages when they call you, and their messages are also shown as sent. Secondly, the contact will not be notified or sent a message that you have blocked them.
If you're blocked by someone, your calls will go straight to voicemail, and your voicemail messages will head to the 'blocked' section immediately. The other person won't receive your calls, won't be notified you called, and won't see a badge for your voicemail.
Blocked messages will not come through when unblocked.
While someone is blocked, any sent text messages will be blocked by Messages. You won't be able to retrieve them.
If you have confirmation that someone has blocked your contact on their phone, there's no way to unblock yourself remotely using any of your devices. To unblock your number, you need to either have physical access to the person's phone or talk the situation through with them and have them reverse the action.
