In a polite smile4 , the smile typically doesn't reach the eyes—but that doesn't mean it's not "sincere." There are plenty of circumstances that call for polite smiles, and they typically show up when we want to convey friendliness but remain reserved, such as when you meet a new person, research says.
A closed-mouth smile is often interpreted as a sign of warmth and pleasure while remaining more subdued. In a closed-mouth smile, the lips remain together, and teeth are not visible. In this way, a polite smile, a disappointed smile, and a forced smile are all closed-mouth smiles.
There are different flirty smiles, small little smirk, one side of your lip raising just a bit, the closed mouth raised eyebrow, or even biting your bottom lip gently. And when you receive a good flirty smile, the best thing to do to is smile back like they made your day.
According to researchers, there are three different types of smiles—cuspid, commissure, and complex—which we will discuss.
A smiling face tells people that you're an outgoing and intelligent person worth getting to know. "When someone has a big smile, it shows they're willing to open up and expose a part of themselves," says Pamela McClain, DDS, a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology.
To be considered conventionally attractive, your smile should have the same midline (vertical line that splits the face perfectly in half) as your face. If your smile's midline isn't directly between your two central front teeth, it might look unattractive.
Research identifies five main styles of flirting: physical, sincere, playful, traditional, and polite. The physical style is associated with expressing interest through physical behavior.
If he or she is smiling at you, it is generally a sign of flirtation, especially when combined with the other body language cues. Other nonverbal flirting behaviors can also vary from person to person. In general, though, they can be grouped into a category known as attention-seeking behaviors.

Seductive Smile.
A research on seduction showed that when people try to be seductive, they typically display positive affect – a slight smile that accompanies direct eye contact, with a slow glance away, but still holding the smile.
Uncomfortable Smile.
When people feel uncomfortable, such as when someone says something inappropriate, they may engage in an uncomfortable smile designed to cover up their true feeling of discomfort.
Closed smile
If he smiles with closed lips, showing no teeth or gums, you could have reason to worry. Maybe he is self-conscious about his teeth or breath. However, a closed mouth also can be considered a sign that he's hiding something. Is he lying about something or just not showing you his true self?
They Smile A Lot
If a person smiles at you often with a broad, ear-to-ear grin, they're making it known that they're into you. They like the way you make them feel and what you have to say. If they're showing you a lot of teeth, that's a great sign.
This gives your smile an unhealthy appearance, which others will notice. According to a study done by the ADA, smiles are the most attractive physical feature on a person, as many people find smiles more appealing than eyes, hair, or body shape.
He is genuinely attracted to you
And he is genuinely attracted to you. When men like someone, they usually access their crush before they even make a move. So, that's probably why he is staring at you.
If they smile when you smile or laugh at anything funny you say, they're showing you they like your humor. If your crush smiles or laughs when you say something funny, it could mean they have a crush on you, or that they just think you're a really funny person.
If she turns around and smiles at you, she's definitely interested. Approach her right then and there if you're interested too. Usually, only a confident, out-going type woman would do that. But a shy one may too.
A great way to do this with maximum effect is by making eye contact when you smile. Remember though, there's a fine line between staring at them with your eyes wide open and a huge toothy grin, and a flirtatious smile. Simply do a slight smile and then catch their eye for a few seconds before looking away.
Innocent flirting is a lighthearted and playful form of social interaction that involves casual, friendly banter, compliments, and teasing without any serious intent or expectation to pursue a romantic or sexual relationship.
They draw the line: Natural flirts know when and where to stop. They will not lead someone on unnecessarily or give them the wrong idea about their real feelings and cause heartache or heartbreak, neither will they come on too strong and make you want to run for your dear life.
A gap or dark space between the lips/cheeks and the teeth will appear dark and unappealing. The width of the jaws and angulation of the teeth impact the look of a smile. Teeth that are positioned in the face well, fill out this space so there is little or no gap, giving a pleasing smile.
Smiling increases socially perceived attractiveness and is considered a signal of trustworthiness and intelligence.
The influence of teeth on the aesthetic appearance of a person has been known for a long time. Based on a large number of empirical results, it can be assumed that white, straight teeth are considered a beauty ideal in Western culture.
