It is through Christ alone that anyone can receive the righteousness of God. Paul's heart is broken for his people, Israel. He prays they will be saved through faith in Christ. Their enthusiasm for God is made useless by their attempt to be made righteous by their own law-keeping instead of by faith in Christ.
So as long as we can be deceived looking outside of Jesus for salvation and meaning in life then we are no threat to the world. Just like Paul said in today's passage, "I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge" ( Romans 10:2 ).
What Does 'Nothing Can Separate Us from the Love of God' Mean? In 1 John 4:16, the apostle writes “God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” We can't have God without love so to be separated from his love means to be separated from him entirely.
Romans 10 teaches the word of faith. By confessing with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and by believing this in our hearts, we are saved—nothing more, nothing less. Christ is the end of the law so we can be justified and made righteous by faith in Jesus alone.
Zeal not according to knowledge may involve a man in many needless difficulties and perplexities, may cause him to think unkindly and unjustly of God, and may cause him to bear an untrue witness of the Lord.
Zeal is "great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective" (Oxford Dictionary.). Christians must be zealous (Titus 2:14), but as with any part of our Christianity and our lives, there has to be a balance. Christians must avoid being like enthusiastic Israel. Paul said they had zeal without knowledge.
God's righteousness must come by grace, not works, and as long as people look to what they do, they fail to accept the gift of righteousness the gospel reveals. So Paul concludes: “For Christ is the end of the law, with the result that there is righteousness for everyone who believes” (verse 4).
In Romans 10:12, Paul says: “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call on him.” This verse refers to what he said earlier in Romans 1:16 and 3:29-30 where he emphasized the gospel of faith for all.
3For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 1Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
Bible Gateway Isaiah 59 :: NIV. Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt.
Romans 8:38-39-38-39 EASY
Nothing can stop God from loving us. Death cannot do that. Life cannot do that. Angels cannot do that, nor can demons do that.
1 Corinthians 13 1
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Romans 2: God's Righteous Judgment. Romans 2 is written to admonish the Jews that living by the law and circumcision does not make them righteous in God's eyes. This comes as quite a shock, but Paul stresses that living by rules and regulations only brings about judgment and condemnation.
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Confession is not the cause of salvation but the effect of believing. There is nothing incomplete about our salvation after belief. Salvation comes to those who acknowledge (confess) that Jesus is God and believe in the resurrection. Salvation is something accomplished by Christ the Messiah.
Romans 10:12 in Other Translations
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him.
To be “a living sacrifice” is to be fully at God's disposal—to be available and willing to obey God in whatever he asks or commands.
Romans 10:8-10 KJV
The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Messiah Jesus is the fulfillment of the law to everyone who trusts because the goal of the Torah is that all nations become one before God. Out of faith removes all distinction and special privilege. God grants salvation to all who confess Jesus as Lord and who call upon the name of God.
Paul has just written that Jesus Christ, by becoming the "end of the law"—keeping the law perfectly and fulfilling it— provides righteousness to everyone who believes in Him. This is the only way to become righteous in God's eyes.
Romans 12:11) We don't use the words 'slothful' or 'zeal' often, but their meaning is clear. To be “slothful in zeal” is to be lethargic, low energy, jaded, run down, weary, apathetic, dull, sluggish, lacking enthusiasm, half-hearted, lazy. It is to be lifeless, listless, lacking in purpose, no longer really to care.
