Chow Chow. Hailing from China, Chow Chows are the closest a dog breed could get to resembling a lion. Their thick, short fur matches the coloration of a lion's mane (the cinnamon ones). That, coupled with their lion-like ears, makes them true lion lookalikes of the canine world.

The Kai Ken (甲斐犬, also called the Tora Inu or Tiger Dog) is a breed of dog from Japan, where it is a national monument. It is a rare dog even in its native land and is one of the six native Japanese dog breeds protected by the Nihon Ken Hozonkai.
The Kangal is a large, muscular dog that typically weighs between 100 and 130 pounds. They have been trained to guard sheep and other flocks against giant predators such as wolves, jackals, and bears. The Kangal has a mighty bite, with a bite force of 743 PSI. It is the highest bite force of any dog breed.
Originally bred to pursue lions, Rhodesian Ridgebacks are superb hunters. The Rhodesian Ridgeback not only tracks their prey but can hold also quarry at bay. The breed is also known as the African Lion Hound due to their history in helping to hunt lions in the savannah.
There are no other natural canines that meet those criteria as well as the Big Cats. The timber wolf is the largest wolf, yet its stature pales compared to that of lions and tigers. The largest species of wolves can grow up to 137 pounds and 7 feet long, while tigers can reach 650 pounds and 12.5 feet in length.

Even a small 300-pound female lion can easily kill a dog. Lions and wild dogs share some of the same prey species, like impala, so lions view dogs as threats to their food supply, and try to kill any dogs they can catch.

Cane Corso
The Cane Corso has a bite force of a massive 700 PSI. this PSI surpasses a lion (691 PSI) which is insane! This dog comes from Italy and is considered part of the mastiff family.

Komainu Pairs
Sometimes one will have a single horn. In the Heian Period these were called komainu and the hornless ones were called shishi, lions, though nowadays both are referred to as komainu. With most of the pairs, though once again there are exceptions, one will have an open mouth and the other a closed mouth.
Shih Tzus are also often known as the Chinese Lion Dog or the Chrysanthemum Dog.
A hyena would win a fight against a wild dog. The reason is simple: hyenas are just too much larger and stronger than wild dogs.
