Which hair colour do men think is the sexiest? Our survey suggests that most men have a preference for blonde hair, as a quarter of men in the UK chose this hair colour option when asked which shade they found the sexiest. The second most voted hair colour amongst men was brunette, which received 16.2% of male votes.
People with brunette hair are the most attractive.
By presenting pictures of the same woman with different dye hair colors, the researchers found that out of the population analyzed, 67 percent of men preferred the woman with brunette hair and 71 percent of women chose the man with brunette hair.
It's common knowledge that most men prefer blondes, right? Well, after coming across a recent study, it appears science provides evidence – despite popular belief – men might actually favor brunettes. According to Deborah Arthurs for Daily Mail, men find women with darker hair more sexually attractive.
Well, whichever you personally find most endearing, here's a bit of interesting news: Men apparently prefer blonde women to their darker or red-haired counterparts…at least according to a new study published in The Journal of Social Psychology.
Numerous studies point to brunette hair being more attractive. Take this 2011 study from dating app Badoo, for example. A couple of thousand UK men were polled and 33.1% of them revealed they found brunettes more attractive than blondes.
A general observation across experiments was that straight hair was perceived as younger, healthier, and more attractive than wavy hair and darker shades (medium copper and brown) were perceived more positively than blonde hair.
CNN recently shared research that men are most likely to prefer women with long hair past the shoulders. Guys were asked to rate the same women's faces based upon short, medium-length, plus super long locks. Males rated ladies with longer hair as more attractive.
"When men were evaluating a short-term mate for a one-night stand they showed equal interest in her face and body instead of the face winning by a blowout." For long-term 75 percent of male participants wanted to see the face, but for short-term flings 50 percent of men chose face and 50 percent chose the body.
- The time of day: In Western cultures, blue is often considered to be the most attractive color for women at night. However, in Eastern cultures such as Japan and China, red is typically the most popular choice during the daytime.
Red is by far the number one most attractive color to most men, but some other contenders are blue, black, pink, and green. So, the differences in color preferences between genders aren't as drastic as people might think.
Brunette was clearly the hair color perceived as most attractive, with blonde as the second most attractive, and red as the least attractive. Figure 1 summarizes these results.
Some men prefer natural curls, while others like sleek and shiny straight hair. Some are drawn to longer styles, while others like the edginess of a shorter cut. How a woman wears her hair can greatly impact how attractive she appears to others.
While men were 1.4 times more likely than women to wish their partner had a different eye color, both genders favored blue eyes. Surprisingly, green, brown, and hazel were more preferred on a partner than gray eyes which respondents had previously considered the most attractive.
On a totally superficial level, we know that hair color matters to guys and girls alike. Some people gravitate toward brunettes while some dudes vow to only date blondes.

60% of men surveyed say they would rather date a woman with great hair than a woman with big breasts. And 78% of men surveyed consider healthy hair to be a turn-on. Now, the first thing that strikes me is that men are obviously drawn to hair that's shiny and healthy--and that makes complete sense.
In the case of long hair, both sexes prefer it because it is allegedly perceived as more attractive. This supposedly means that both males and females find women with long hair more attractive than those with short hair. However, this may be due to different reasons.
And while the results did vary, in the end we found that 58% of the fellas agreed that curlier is sexier.
Type 4 hair is the kinkiest hair type there is. When you think of afros, you're likely thinking of type 4 hair. Made up of a crazy amount of super tight curls, this hair type is the densest of all curl patterns. It's also more prone to shrinkage than Type 2 or Type 3 hair and may be much longer than it appears to be.
