Type 1: Straight Hair Type 1A hair is very straight and fine, with no hint of wave or curl. As it is so straight and fine, when the natural oils travel to the ends, it tends to cause it to look like oily hair. It is the rarest hair type and is common among women of Asian descent.
Hair type and texture are determined by several factors, including genetics. The African hair is more coiled and drier; Asian hair (Korean, Japanese) is straighter and thicker; and Caucasian hair is somewhere in between with around 45% having straight hair, 40% having wavy hair, and 15% having curly hair.

Although the total cuticle layers are significantly thicker in Asians, the thickness of one layer is particularly similar between the two ethnicities. A recent study with larger samples agreed that Asian hair has a higher median cuticle thickness than Caucasian and African hair.
The least common hair type, 1A hair is extremely fine and perfectly straight. Consequently, it can look a bit flat and limp and might prove difficult to style. Dry shampoo can be your ally in the fight against excessive oil and thick hair products that might weigh your hair down are best avoided.

The African hair is generally curly or frizzy, and grows almost parallel to the scalp. It has the slowest growth rate of 0.9 centimeters per month due to its spiral structure which causes it to twist on itself as it grows. African hair has a flattened shape.
Advantages Of Straight Hair
Straight hair is easier to handle, style, and brush. It does not get tangled easily and looks sleek and smooth. The natural oils from the scalp can easily travel down to the hair ends. This helps straight hair stay moisturized, nourished, and healthy.
Type 1A - This hair type is extremely soft, smooth and shiny. While this hair may feel like a dream for many, it lacks volume. Type 1B - slightly thicker and bouncier than 1A. Type 1C - Most coarse and thick straight hair.
