The Spectre detains Star Sapphire and puts her back into the gem. He hands the gem to Carol and lets her smash the gem (essentially finally killing the Star Sapphire persona that would take control of her), and she starts feeling much better.
Star Sapphire and Green Lantern duel several times over the years. Each time Jordan defeats her, she reverts to normal. The two separate when Carol is engaged to Jason Belmore; later she is confined to a wheelchair. It is around this time that Carol finds out that Hal Jordan is Green Lantern.
Star Sapphire was a villain until she became a hero during Geoff Johns' Blackest Night comic series. Following that and the New 52 Reboot, she has become a hero.

Her supervillain motivation was a twisted romantic obsession with Jordan. She was the crazy ex as a supervillain. But at that point the emotional spectrum didn't exist. The sapphires worked like the Lantern rings.
Her battle with Atrocitus was tough and she realized that she could use her power ring to call her loved one to aid her. Hal came through the star portal to help Carol and together they defeated Atrocitus. At the end, Carol decided to keep her ring to honor Ghia'ta and also renewed her relationship with Hal.
When the Tamaranians were driven from their home (three times, mind you), everyone's favorite protectors of the DC universe were nowhere to be seen. For that reason, Starfire has since bourn a grudge against the lantern corps, who are the other guardians of the galaxy.
Irving Norbert
Using his knowledge of astronomy, Norbert became a costumed villain named Planet Master and used weapons based on the nine planets. He managed to outwit Batman and Robin in the first battle.
Type of Villain
Star Sapphire is an enemy turned ally of Green Lantern and an enemy turned ally of the Justice League. She also has powers similar to the Green Lantern. A woman was chosen to be Star Sapphire.
However, one villain that often seems to be forgotten is Star Sapphire. Though she isn't quite as popular as Sinestro, Star Sapphire has still proven to be quite the antagonist for Green Lantern. Her personal involvement in Hal Jordan's life, specifically, makes her all the greater an adversary.
Unlike most Lantern Corps, save perhaps Agent Orange, the Star Sapphires are currently all female. However, it is not impossible for a man to wear and use the Ring.
Sapphire joined the rest of the Legion and the League in fighting off the forces of Apokolips, teaming with Wonder Woman, Shining Knight, and Vigilante in battle over the Great Wall of China.
