Left untreated, loneliness can lead to societal problems and addictive behaviors. According to research, men are more likely than women to keep their problems to themselves rather than seek professional help. It also appears that males generally choose to self-medicate and engage in risk-taking behaviors.
Men's Loneliness and Health Correlations
Loneliness in men is also linked to cardiovascular disease and stroke, and men account for 80% of completed suicides (for which one of the leading contributing factors is loneliness). As men, we need to acknowledge and embrace the importance of connection to people in our lives.

Of the 25 single men I surveyed ages 30-40, they all agree that around 35 is the best time for a man to be single. One of the key reasons is because they find women ages 35 and younger to be the most ideal.
Among men, those younger than 30 are by far the most likely to be single: About half of men in this age group (51%) are single, compared with only 27% of those ages 30 to 49 and 50 to 64 and 21% of men 65 and older.
