Most of the gods were slain battling evil, Odin is devoured by the wolf
The ending of God of War Ragnarok concludes the end of the Norse saga in that yes, Ragnarok does in fact come, Asgard is destroyed and characters like Odin and Thor are dead, albeit not butchered by Kratos like the Greek pantheon were.
Odin is killed by Fenrir who is then killed by Odin's son Vidarr. Thor kills Jörmungandr but succumbs to the serpent's poison after taking only nine steps after the battle and falls dead.
It's a challenging boss fight, but one that ends in the resolution of the All-Father's demise. Atreus shows his compassion as he places Odin's soul into a marble. However, it isn't long before Sindri takes the marble from Loki, and refuses to be denied his vengeance against the Aesir god.
After the gods and the monsters and giants were all vanquished, Lif and Lifthrasir would worship the god Balder, son of Odin, who would rise up from the dead after Ragnarok to rule in a new heaven. Their progeny would repopulate the reborn Earth.
Odin died peacefully in Thor: Ragnarok and was still able to ascend to Valhalla.
Surviving gods
Hoenir, Magni, Modi, Njord, Vidar, Vali, and the daughter of Sol are all stated to survive Ragnarok. All of the remaining Æsir then reunite at Ithavllir. Baldr and Hod return from the underworld - Baldr having been killed by Hod, and Hod by Vali, before Ragnarok.
So what's the secret ending of God of War Ragnarok? Well, as you may have guessed from the “A Viking Funeral” favor, it's Brok's funeral. After traveling across the shoreline, you can finally hold Brok's funeral. All of Brok's dwarf friends will be there to attend the funeral as well as Kratos.
Moreover, Mimir had warned Kratos time and again about Odin's treachery. Thus, Kratos decided that it was in their best interests to not get into any kind of agreement with Odin, having had his fair share of ill experiences with other gods.
In Norse mythology, Heimdall (from Old Norse Heimdallr) is a god. He is the son of Odin and nine mothers.
Another theme found in the myths of Odin is the inability to escape destiny—the notion that future events have already been determined and cannot be changed. Odin gains the ability to see the future and knows that he and the other gods of the Aesir will die at Ragnarok, but nothing he can do will change that fate.
Encountered during the seventeenth chapter, The Realms at War, Odin is the final boss you will face in God of War: Ragnarok.
For his part, Thor had to admit he believed the age of Odin was at an end and the former All-Father should remain dead, but he still loved his father - as he proved by helping him in battle against Surtur's spirit. Death is a revolving door in comics, and it was only a matter of time before Odin was returned.
In Norse mythology, Móði (Old Norse: [ˈmoːðe]; anglicized Módi or Mothi) and Magni [ˈmɑɣne] are the sons of Thor. Their names translate to "Wrath" and "Mighty," respectively.

After the devastating events are over, they'll repopulate the new and fertile world they now find themselves in. The sun will shine again as the daughter of the previous sun takes up the role of her mother. The world is reborn afresh and anew.
Odin allows it. But with Heimdall dead, Atreus decides he should return to Asgard. Odin will soon figure out that Kratos killed Heimdall, and that will surely lead to war.
It is also implied that he has an intense fear of Kratos as well, as he knows nothing about him except for the fact that he's extremely powerful and having fought and killed one of his sons, Baldur and his two grandsons, Magni and Modi in battle.
Blaming Kratos for having brought the war to Asgard and for the destruction to his family, the God of Thunder was blinded by anger and refused to listen to his enemies, who unsuccessfully urged him to stop fighting.
What happens when you finish God of War Ragnarok 100%? We won't spoil anything, but once you finally reach the end, some of the credits will overlay the gameplay. Once these credits are done, you'll enter a post-game chapter called Beyond Ragnarok.
The next game will be an Atreus-led spinoff
You can check out the video below to see how it all comes to an end, if you need a reminder, but in general it looks like Atreus is going his own way next.
Atreus explains to Kratos he has to go looking for other Giants and he must do it alone. Kratos supports this, finally being able to let go of his need to protect his son. Atreus departs Midgard while Kratos and Freya continue to explore it and restore it after Ragnarok.
Loki and Heimdall kill each other
Loki and Heimdall are frequently implied to be enemies in Old Norse texts, there's even mention of the two turning into seals to fight each other. The rivalry comes to a head in Ragnarok when Heimdall kills Loki.
To quickly recap the climax of Ragnarok, Kratos, Atreus, and their allies successfully invade Asgard, kill Odin (more on this later) and stop his nefarious plans, manage to mostly avert Ragnarok (though not before Surtr cleaves Asgard in two), and escape with their lives, thanks to Freyr's sacrifice (also more on this ...
Hela is the child of Loki, God of Mischief, and the giantess Angrboda. Hela's face is withered and decayed because she was mystically born half dead, but wears a cloak that conceals this imperfection, and while wearing it, she appears to be a beautiful woman.
