*60 Method: Dial *60 on your landline phone to stop unwanted calls from a specific phone number. Anonymous Call Rejection: Dial *77 to turn on Anonymous Call Rejection on your landline and wait to hear the three beeps.
Call Block, otherwise known as Call Screening, is a feature that allows you to block calls from up to 10 phone numbers within your local calling area for a low monthly rate. Turn on: Press *60.
You can: Press *61 to add the number of the last call received to your call block list. Press *80 to turn call blocking off. Press *60 to turn call blocking back on.
*60 is a universal code that can be used to block phone numbers on landlines. Dial *60, then follow the prompts to block the number. Note that you'll need to enter the specific number, so write it down before you dial. If you made a mistake and want to unblock a number, you can dial *80 to reverse the process.
To block a known number from your phone: Pick up the phone and wait for the dial tone. Dial *60#, followed by the number you wish to block.
Enter *67. Enter the number you wish to call (including area code). Tap Call. The words "Private," "Anonymous," or some other indicator will appear on the recipient's phone instead of your mobile number.
Register online or call 1300 792 958. We manage this service for the Australian Government. After your number has been on the register for 30 days, telemarketers can only call you: if you have given consent.
The blocked party won't get a notification that they've been blocked, but if they call your landline they may hear a busy signal, or a message that their call couldn't go through or that the number is busy.
When you block a phone number or contact, they can still leave a voicemail, but you won't get a notification. Messages that are sent or received won't be delivered. Also, the contact won't get a notification that the call or message was blocked.
With the *#61# settings interrogation code, you can see if calls are being forwarded to another number whenever they go unanswered. If the "Voice Call Forwarding" and "Data Call Forwarding" say they're disabled, that's good.
Anonymous Call Rejection (*77) stops calls from people that use a blocking feature to keep their name or number from being displayed. When Anonymous Call Rejection is turned on, callers will hear a message telling them to hang up, turn off the blocking feature, and call again.
Call return (*69) automatically dials your last incoming call, whether the call was answered, unanswered or busy. Call within 30 minutes, during which you can still make and receive calls. To deactivate while waiting for the party you are trying to reach to become available, dial *89.
The national Do Not Call list protects landline and wireless phone numbers. You can register your numbers on the national Do Not Call list at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY).
The only way to see a call history from a blocked number is to unblock the number. They will be added to your regular call list, and you will be able to see any missed calls you receive from the number. However, they will be able to contact you again. Consider if it's worth your privacy.
They accumulate your data through sources like warranty cards, online purchases, even searching for number online to build a more lucrative file to sell. Here are a few examples: “800”, “888”, and “900” numbers are another way for telemarketers to obtain your phone number.
*31# (Disable Caller ID)
If you want to keep your privacy and prevent others from knowing when you call them, you can disable caller ID by using this code.
Per-Call Blocking allows you to block your number, on a call by call basis, from appearing on the caller identification (ID) unit of the person you are calling, free of charge. To block your number from displaying on a caller ID unit: At the dial tone, push *67.
*67 - Caller ID Block: Hides your phone number on Caller ID systems. *69 - Call Return: Redials the last number that called you. *70 - Call Waiting: Places your call on hold so you can answer another. *72 - Call Forwarding: Forward your call to another phone number.
Australia: *10# for Telstra services or *69 on Optus HFC Telephony network. This only allows one to return the last unanswered call, and can cost 35 cents per use.
Dialing *68 will disable the Caller ID for the next outbound / external call only. Selecting a line and dialing this feature code will result in a prompt on the phone display as well as an audible message: "Caller ID is BLOCKED for the next outbound call only."
Activate Call Trace
Hang up the phone after receiving a harassing call. Pick up the phone and press *57 (touch tone) or 1157 (rotary). You'll hear a confirmation tone and message will be heard If the trace is successful.
Screen incoming calls and only accept calls from certain numbers. Other callers will hear a message that you are not accepting calls at this time. To activate, dial *64.
Pick the phone up and at the dial tone, press *66. If the line is free, the call will go through. If the line is busy, you may hear a message. The feature will retry the line every 60 seconds for the next 30 minutes.
